Navigate your way round Styal village. Learn how

to use a compass and understand uses of

different types of maps. Find your way back to the

mill and on the way explore the differences in the

surrounding landscape and compare to your

home town.

Key Stage 2 — 1.5 hours

A practical fieldwork session where students

take part in experiments and investigations to

discover the life of a river, how it is formed and

its impact on the surrounding area. As part of

the workshop, explore living things in the river or

choose to understand conservation and

renewable energy at Quarry Bank. Return to

school with your own findings and data.

Key Stage 1 & 2 — 1.5 hours

Available from Easter — Harvest

What creatures are living around us, in the ponds,

woods and grasses? Investigate different habitats,

examine minibeasts upclose using fieldwork equip-

ment and record your findings. Understand the

anatomy of minibeasts and how they have adapted

to their surroundings.

EGM card entitles free admission to the Mill only for unlimited numbers of students. Groups must pre book and all EGM holders must pay for the Apprentice House, guides & Facilitated Workshops. A workshop booking is eligible for a £1 discount. EGM details must be received on or before the date of your visit..

All prices are per student Apprentice House tours, all Facilitated Workshops and Environment Sessions have a minimum charge of 20 students unless otherwise stated. Cancellation charges also apply to all options.

Just tell us how many children are coming and how much money you want to spend per child, and we’ll do the rest. We have a wide range of Quarry Bank-themed pocket money toys and stationery available, with prices starting at only 75p*.

Just give the shop a call at least two weeks before your visit to arrange your goody bags and check prices. You can pay on the day, in advance or arrange for it to be added to your invoice – just let us know.
