Avon Intermediate School-West Now a STEM-Certified School

The Indiana Department of Education announced that Avon Intermediate School West (AIS-West) was approved to receive science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) certification. This brings the total number of Indiana STEM Certified Schools to 60. AIS-West is the only school in Hendricks County with this designation.

"A quality education begins with amazing educators and excellent material," said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. "Materials rooted in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics help prepare our students for a successful life beyond high school. I want to commend these schools for becoming STEM certified. We are grateful for their passion and dedication."

Avon World Guard Brings Home World Championship!

A big congratulations to the AHS World Guard for winning the 2018 Color Guard World Championship!

Avon World Drumline Wins State Championship!

The AHS World Drumline won the 2018 Indiana Percussion Association (IPA) State Championship! Kudos!

AHS Juniors Win American Legion State Awards

Two Avon High School students recently vied for and received the American Legion, Department of Indiana, Americanism and Government State Award. Congratulations to Rebecca Fales (11th) and Thomas Krienke, Jr. (11th). They each won a plaque and a $1,000 scholarship. This award was given to one male and one female (in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades) based on their scores from the Americanism and Government multiple choice and essay test they took back in November. ACSC Receives Best Communities for Music Education Designation

Avon Community School Corporation (ACSC) has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.

The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, ACSC answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

Maple Hosts School-Wide Celebration

It was an awesome celebration at Maple Elementary as students, their families and staff celebrated being named a National Blue Ribbon School. Thanks to U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly and Sen. John Crane for supporting this event.

Kindergarten Registration & Assessment Day

Bring the Family to Avon Night Light on April 28th

Avon High School's Student Government is hosting Avon Night Light on April 28th. It's going to be an exciting night of fun, health and community unity! Individuals and families can enjoy 5K races, food trucks, activity booths and interactive games. All proceeds will go to Hendricks Regional Health's Pediatric and Prenatal units to support the health and well-being of our community's future.

AHS Alumni: The Avon Alumni Association's Banquet is April 28th

The Avon Alumni Association banquet will be held on Saturday, April 28th. This is a great opportunity for Avon High School alumni to gather and reconnect. Social hour will begin at 4 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. in the Avon Advanced Learning Center Café. The cost is $25. Reservations may be made by sending payment or reservation (if planning to pay at the door) to Avon Alumni Association, c/o Mary Sue Lisby, 233 N. CR 900 East, Avon, IN 46123. Please include the names of all persons attending and the graduation year of the alumnus.
