Avon Maitland Schools Canada provides a full service English educa on with a focus on student success. Our mission is to Engage, Inspire and Innovate and we believe that students, staff and parents are “Always Learning”.

We take great pride in our English as a Second Language program, assessing each student to determine the level of ESL support they need. We teach them English in small classes of only 4-5 students. Interna onal Students are also supported individually by our Academic Coordinator, who works directly with schools and students to realize academic expecta ons.

We off er core subjects in all major areas of study and add specialized programs in the arts, culture, business, communica ons, health, manufacturing, agriculture, culinary arts and transporta on.

Nestled in Canada’s Great Lakes Basin, Avon Maitland borders Lake Huron in the west and the City of Stra ord in the east, just 90 minutes southwest of Toronto.

Our 9 High Schools and 31 Elementary Schools are spread across small towns and ci es ensuring a safe learning and cultural environment. We are recognized for our high academic standards and off er superior programs in music and drama, technology, business, math and science.

Extra-curricular ac vi es are a signifi cant part of student life and include high spirited athle cs in all of the major sports.

Avon Maitland Schools are consistently top performing schools. Students in Avon Maitland are above average in standardized tests. A number of our high schools are near the top of the rankings in the annual Fraser Report.

Post Secondary PartnersWe have strong partnerships with many post secondary ins tu ons across the district. Among our partners is the University of Waterloo, which has a campus located in the city of Stra ord. There we have a program called “School Within A University”, where local high school students take advance courses.

We also partner with three of the top colleges in the region, Fanshawe, Lambton and Conestoga. These ins tua ons off er what is called “Dual Credit” programs where students earn a college and high school credits at the same me.

The goal for our staff is to fi nd a “home away from home” for our interna onal guests.

Our host families are carefully selected so that interna onal students can improve their English skills and immerse themselves in Canadian life and culture.

iCASE, the Interna onal Canadian Academy of Sports Excellence, represents a fi rst for the Province of Ontario. It is the fi rst Academy to combine rigorous baseball training with a full me academic educa on for high school students in grades 11 and 12. It is an opportunity for baseball players to develop their skills in an academic environment, led by a staff of world renowned coaches.

At iCASE baseball training is part of the daily curriculum. This allows our student-athletes to lead a more balanced life and par cipate in other extra-curricular ac vi es or simply enjoy me with their friends.

On the fi eld and in the classroom, the iCASE program grooms each student-athlete based on their individual stage of development.
