What is the Middle East Public Relations Association?• A non-profit professional association for PR practitioners with both individual and agency members

• Single regional voice for PR and business communicators in the Middle East

• Represents the industry to key stakeholders – government and media

• Based in the UAE with member networks throughout the region

• Charter focuses on raising standards of PR in the region though adherence to codes of practice, training, knowledge sharing and networking events

• Encourages active participation – an association run by its members for its members

• Organiser of networking events built around business issues, knowledge sharing and continual professional development.

• Individual membership is now over 400 plus 35 agencies, representing the top PR companies operating in the Middle East with over 500 employees; and a PR community of more than 1,000 across the region.

Bigger and better every yearFollowing a successful inauguration in 2009, the MEPRA Awards is the region’s only independent recognition for the public relations industry. Starting in 2009 over 60 Best Practice submissions were entered in 10 categories, with 43 of them selected as finalists. In 2010, over 100 entries were received. In 2011, another 67 entries were received and with 300 guests at the gala dinner. The MEPRA Awards are established as the PR event of the year.

For the 2012 Awards, we fully expect an even larger number of entries with new categories, and another raising of the quality level for the regional PR industry.

The Awards highlight the depth and range of the industry, and recognise the achievements of a sector that is estimated to be worth USD500 million annually.

At DABO & CO we are strong supporters of the work achieved by MEPRA.

It is hugely beneficial to have a professionally run independent body that supports

the regional communications sector and drives best practices.

Although our staff participate in numerous MEPRA activities throughout

the year ranging from training sessions to the student day, the annual awards

are one of the major highlights. We believe that entering submissions each year

provides the team and our clients with an opportunity to clearly demonstrate

the substantial results that we achieve and take pride in their work.

Having won three awards in 2010, we were delighted to be able to match

that achievement in 2011. Given the huge level of competition amongst regional

businesses, it was important to once again be rewarded by the judges. The recognition

that this brings to an independent agency like us is tremendous and further supports

our desire to develop truly creative and results-oriented campaigns and reaffirms

that our work is of international standards.

Receiving awards for the past three years is a great testament to our staff

and we’re determined to build on this success in 2012 by creating yet more
