The SeptiTech® STAAR™ (Smart Trickling Anaerobic/Aerobic Recirculating) Filter Systems are designed for residential and commercial properties with minimal operator oversight, while delivering consistently high quality treatment even during peak, low or intermittent fl ows.

Utilizing an enhanced, biological, unsaturated media fi lter process, the SeptiTech® STAAR™ System is ETV-EPA verifi ed and NSF/ANSI Standard 40/245 certifi ed. With an optional UV disinfection system, the patented SeptiTech® STAAR™ fi lter systems are designed for direct discharge or water reuse in mind.

Since receiving the EPA's "Environmental Technology Innovator" award in 2000, SeptiTech's technology has proven experience from schools to restaurants and cluster housing to small towns that provided creative, practical and economical solutions to wastewater needs.

GENERAL SEPTITECH® INFORMATION

Septitech® STAARTM denitrifi cation units are available to incorporate a primary septic tank(s) in the nitrogen removal process. Please see product drawings and/or manual for further details.

**Treatment Capacity/Volume/Hydraulic capacities are rated based on biological loading (BOD), hydraulic and other project specifi c considerations. Please note that only residential applications or those applications requiring treatment for only sanitary wastewater, may be designed from the volume and number of people per module. Actual capacity may vary with local conditions and performance goals.

NOTE: Systems can be fully assembled prior to shipping or manually assembled on site. Please see Product Drawing for design specifi cations and recommended exterior tankage sizing.

How Does the System Work?

1 Effl uent from the primary settling zone fl ows into the bottom of the trickling fi lter mixing with the treated wastewater.

2 Wastewater is then pumped up into the trickling fi lterwhile the pump simultaneously draws a robust amount of air. This air combined with the uniform spray providing effi cient treatment as the water and air combination trickles down through the fi lter media. For the Commercial System, there are two stages and two types of media with multiple recirculation for optimum treatment.

3 The SeptiTech® STAARTM Filter contro panel senses “surge fl ow” and “low fl ow” activity; automatically adjusting the discharge rate as needed. It even senses a “no fl ow” situation to “slow down” or put the system into “Sleep” mode.

4 Systematically, wastewater is pumped back to the settling zone to remove sludge from the trickling fi lter thus all sludge management is in the settling zone. This proces is also utilized for denitrifi cation.

5 After treatment, a pump will send small, frequent time doses to ensure optimal soil absorption.

The SeptiTech® STAAR™ (Smart Trickling Anaerobic/Aerobic Recirculating) Filter Systems are designed for residential and commercial properties with minimal operator oversight, while delivering consistently high quality treatment even during peak, low or intermittent fl ows.

Utilizing an enhanced, biological, unsaturated media fi lter process, the SeptiTech® STAAR™ System is ETV-EPA verifi ed and NSF/ANSI Standard 40/245 certifi ed. With an optional UV disinfection system, the patented SeptiTech® STAAR™ fi lter systems are designed for direct discharge or water reuse in mind.

**Treatment Capacity/Volume/Hydraulic capacities are rated based on biological loading (BOD), hydraulic and other project specifi c considerations. Please note that only residential applications or those applications requiring treatment for only sanitary wastewater, may be designed from the volume and number of people per module. Actual capacity may vary with local conditions and performance goals.

NOTE: Systems can be fully assembled prior to shipping or manually assembled on site. Please see Product Drawing for design specifi cations and recommended exterior tankage sizing.

How Does the System Work?

1 Effl uent from the primary settling zone fl ows into the bottom of the trickling fi lter mixing with the treated wastewater.

2 Wastewater is then pumped up into the trickling fi lterwhile the pump simultaneously draws a robust amount of air. This air combined with the uniform spray providing effi cient treatment as the water and air combination trickles down through the fi lter media. For the Commercial System, there are two stages and two types of media with multiple recirculation for optimum treatment.

3 The SeptiTech® STAARTM Filter contro panel senses “surge fl ow” and “low fl ow” activity; automatically adjusting the discharge rate as needed. It even senses a “no fl ow” situation to “slow down” or put the system into “Sleep” mode.

4 Systematically, wastewater is pumped back to the settling zone to remove sludge from the trickling fi lter thus all sludge management is in the settling zone. This proces is also utilized for denitrifi cation.

5 After treatment, a pump will send small, frequent time doses to ensure optimal soil absorption.
