Vocational Education and Training enables people to acquire knowledge, know-how, skills and/or competences needed for particular jobs, a broader range of occupations or more broadly on the labour market.
VET contributes to enterprise performance, competitiveness, research and innovation and is central to employment and social policy.
Planning and Implementing a Non-Revenue Water Reduction Strategy Improves the Performance of Water Supply and Distribution Systems
Brief Definition of NRW :“The difference between the volume of water put into the distribution system and the volume of water billed to the customers”
Partnership covers 10 partners from 7 countries;
TURKEY (Promoter)BELGIUMGREECEFINLANDITALYTHE NETHERLANDSUNITED KINGDOM
Vocational Training, Education, Conveying Information on up-to-date Waste Management Practices to Decision Makers/Staff involved in Waste Management
Project aims to develop specific training tools in the field of Modern Waste Management, which is based upon the main principles of European Environmental Policy and European Waste Management Policy.
Partnership covers 13 partners from 8 countries;
TURKEY (Promoter)AUSTRIAGERMANYGREECEITALYPOLANDSPAINSWITZERLAND
Projects aim to transfer new technologies, directives, methods &principles of effective Water & Waste Management and up-to-date knowledge to the target group and potential users by specific training methods.
Objectives of the project are of; – Pointing up the issues of Modern Water & Solid Waste
Management,– Training the target group :
• Managers, engineers and technicians working for; – SMEs, – Relevant Institutions, Associations, etc.
• Trainers and academicians working for;– Universities, Training Centers & VET Organisations.
– Identification of priority areas,– Assessment of methodologies and policies,– Introduction of monitor and control elements of non-revenue
water, which has three components;• Real losses• Apparent losses• Unbilled consumption
Added values of the project to the sector are of;– Innovation– European dimension– Transferability (sustainability)– Analyzing and solving problems, and wide-spreading the solutions
through Best Practices– Improving quality of VET system in Water & Solid Management

PROJECT
Management and Coordination
• Needs Analysis in each partner country,• National Reports on general background
and need specifications, • Specification of target (and final & potential
end-user) groups,• Most recent solid waste treatment
technologies in the sector,• Most recent water-loss detection and
reduction methods applied in Modern Water Technology Management Sector,
Development of Basic Products
• Interactive project website available in partners’ native languages
Development of Engineering Products
• Engineering Book and interactive CD-Rom
• POSEIDON is a software tool developed to design and assess water loss reduction strategies.
Development of Training Modules
• Training modules in MOODLEMOODLE: Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment
• Testing reports• Engineering Books• Software programme POSEIDON (PROWAT)• Training courses
•Products have been tested in native languages in partner countries. Considering the reports, the products have been modified and finalized.
Dissemination in projects
• Dissemination to spreading the word about PROWAT and WASTE_TRAIN as far and as wide as possible.
• Information-giving and awareness-raising regarding Water Loss and Solid Waste Management are key activities to ensure that others benefit from our experience.
• Dissemination helped to achieve a wider and more long-term impact both during and after the funding period.
• It is crucial in helping PROWAT and WASTE-TRAIN to become sustainable after the funding has finished.
• What to disseminate• Posters, brochures, leaflets• Project products (website, book, software, training course)• Slideshow presentations• Transnational meeting video records• Technical papers• Press clippings to the Newspaper • Interview and Questionnaire documents
•How to disseminate• Project website and partners’ websites,• Newspapers/ magazines/ journals,• Conferences, congress and seminars
• Other project meetings• Lobbying activities• Closing Conferences• EC project search websites
Exploitation in projects
• Exploitation in PROWAT and WASTE-TRAIN involves maximizing the potential of our activities so that our results are used to the best possible advantage.
• More people can then share in the successes, experiences and lessons learned from our project.
• Exploitation activities take our project results to the next level to ensure that they are sustained.
• Exploitation through;
• Commercialization• Free use by target group (promotion)• Mainstreaming for decision makers• Transferring project results• Sustainability through project website (keep up-to-date)• Introducing the teaching, managing and working methods
learned during our trips to our own organization• Promoting the learning of foreign languages in our
organization• Encourage potential applicants to participate in similar
grants• Becoming involved in other European projects
