Topic: Recent Trends in Big Data Date: 24.05.2020
The Department of Information Technology, J.J. College of Arts and Science
(Autonomous), Pudukkottai organized an International Webinar on Recent Trends in
Information Technology -2020 on Sunday, 24th
May, 2020. In total 708 participants from
various institutions took part in the Conference.
Mr. Karthikeyan Thamilselvan, Software Engineer, CACIB, Singapore, delivered a
special lecture on “Recent Trends in Bigdata”. He outline the latest trends in Bigdata and career
opportunities in I.T. He a gave detailed lecture on data and working process of Bigdata and
Artificial Intelligence.
He gave how Big data analytics helps organizations harness their data and use it to
identify new opportunities. That, in turn, leads to smarter business moves, more efficient
operations, higher profits and happier customers. In his report Big Data in Big Companies, more
than 5 applications to understand how they used big data
Dr. R.Manimaran Head, Department of Information Technology welcomed the gathering.

Information Technology -2020 on Sunday, 24th
May, 2020. In total 708 participants from
various institutions took part in the Conference.
Mr. B.Sundar, Testing Lead, Optisol Business Solutions, Chennai, delivered a special
lecture on “Recent Trends in Testing”. He outlines the latest trends in Testing and career
opportunities in Automation Testing. He gave a detailed lecture on both manual and automation
testing working in both web and mobile applications. Dr. R.Manimaran, Head, Department of
Information Technology, presided over the programme and introduced the guest.
During the sessions, he explained the importance of Software testing and different types
of software testing strategies. He enlightened students about the skills set required by Software
Testers, the career path and also shared his personal industrial experience with the audience in
automation of testing. He specially mentioned that Selenium is the languages / scripts which are
in demand in the field of testing.
Mr. Sundar explained and demonstrated the importance of automation and the tools in
Software Testing using „Selenium‟ testing tool and asked the students to explore other different
tools being used by the IT Industry.
Dr. N. Balaji Raja, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology
welcomed the gathering. Ms. K. Seetha lakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Information
Technology proposed the vote of thanks.
Topic: Recent Trends in I.T. Date: 16.08.2019
The Department of Information Technology, J.J. College of Arts and Science has
organized a one day guest lecture on “Recent Trends in I.T” for III year B.Sc IT students
with M.Sc IT Students. The resource person, Mr. C.Solaiyappan, Automation Engineer, Robert
Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions [P] Ltd. Bangalore shared his experience and
knowledge in the field of Software Test Automation. Also, he shared about the opportunities in
Software test automation to the participants and insists them to do certification course. More than
100 students were participated and got benefited. Dr. R.Manimaran, Head, Department of
Information Technology, presided over the programme and introduced the guest.
He gave software testing is an investigation conducted to provide stakeholders with
information about the quality of the product or service under test. Software testing can also
provide an objective, independent view of the software to allow the business to appreciate and
understand the risks of software implementation.
Test techniques include the process of executing a program or application with the intent
of finding software bugs (errors or other defects). In this Guest Lecture, the participants were
provided a proficient level understanding of software testing methodology & principles including
software test automation using Selenium. The program equips individuals with latest knowledge
in testing domain enabling them to excel in their IT career. The Lecture concluded at 12.30 noon,
with a vote of thanks by Ms. K.Seetha lakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Information
Technology.

The Departments of Information Technology of J.J. College of Arts and Science
(Autonomous), Sivapuram, Pudukkotai organized Guest Lecture Programme “Recent Trends in
Distributed Technology” on 02.08.2019.
The major objective of the program was to make the students to get familiar about the
recent trends in distributed technology and to provide an exposure in carrying out projects in this
domain. Mr.M.Thirunavukkarasu, Assistant. Professor., Khadir Mohideen College,
Adirampattinam delivered a lecture on “Recent Trends in Distributed Technology”. In his
lecture, he briefed about Distributed computing, Cloud computing, Cluster computing, P2P
network and client server vs cloud computing.
Mr. R.Manimaran, Head, Department of Information Technology, presided over the
programme, making necessary arrangements to the same.
Ms.Sumithra, II M.Sc. Information Technology welcomed the gathering. Ms. C.Swethai,
I M.Sc. Information Technology proposed the vote of thanks.
