Work Placements & Internships


Some of our courses include mandatory placements, while on others they are optional Mandatory placements can be anywhere from 2

weeks to 40 weeks long. The shorter work placements are designed to fit in

around your modules of study

social care courses will be placed at various NHS hospitals and medical centres throughout the south west




Work Placements step-by-step


Step 1: Boost your CV During your first year, engage in as many extra-curricular activities as possible - community work, clubs & societies, volunteering, sports, etc… Step 2: Preparation At the beginning of 2nd year complete the ‘Placement Unit’ and attend the following workshops: preparing for placements, attending interviews and writing CVs Step 3: Hunting From November of the 2nd year apply for placements with the support from Placement Coordinators, Academics, Careers Services and Employability staff.

Step 4: Look your best From January to May of the 2nd year attend as many interviews as possible and find your placement by the Autumn semester of the same year at the latest. Step 5: Show time Do your placement in the 3rd year Step 6: Back to school Come back to the university to complete the final year of your degree.

Undergraduate
