Essay Questions

The following essay questions are an opportunity for you to share more about yourself with us . They are also intended to be helpful reflections for you on topics we know matter to people’s success once they are in the program. Please take your time with these ques-tions and answer with sincerity. We are looking for typed responses (typically 3-4 para-graphs per question) to be attached to and turned in with this application.

1. We can imagine by your application that you are excited to learn about Ayurveda. It’s a remarkable field! What attracted you applying to study at The Ayurvedic Institute specif-ically and what are your aspirations for studying Ayurveda here?

2. Tell us about a time in your life when you feel you were really thriving or feeling especial-ly balanced. What did that look and feel like? What contributed to being able to be in that place? What did you learn from this experience that you are using to help support oth-ers? Then also reflect on a time in your life that was more difficult to navigate. What practices did you call upon to support you in this time of growth? What did you learn from this experience and how do you carry that over into your daily life? What role did compassion play in this experience or in how you understand the experience now?

3. Tell us about a time where you needed to be self-motivated and responsible for your own actions. How did that go for you? What did you learn and how might you approach an environment like that in the future? Similarly, tell us about a time where you had to work closely with a team of peers. How did that go for you? What did you learn and how might you approach an environment like that in the future?

4. Studying at The Ayurvedic Institute requires being able to honor and respect your di-verse peers, teachers and staff, the wisdom of many traditions, the process of learning and growth, and the structures that are in place to help support students throughout the program. Tell us about experiences that you have that you feel demonstrate your commitment to similar concepts.
