NOTE! Maintenance should be done, at least, twice monthly. If possible, accomplish every week.
Complete maintenance tasks for the 3 computers in the office, the youth facility computer, and
the 2 computers in the sound booth (main sanctuary)
SYSTEM UPDATES
Check for system updates every week
Run Windows Update if no notifications
o Open Start Menu and select Control Panel
o Select System and Security
o Press Check for updates
o Press Install updates button if you receive notification
that there are important updates to install

o Restart the computer once updates finish installing
SOFTWARE UPDATES
Open SUPERAnti-Spyware by selecting the “bug” icon from the system tray
Select Click here to check for updates link in
lower right corner
Once updates are complete, press Scan this
Computer button
Select Quick Scan to search for unwanted
programs (3-10 minutes)
Press Continue button on the threat pop-up
and main window to remove unwanted
programs
Open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Press Scan Now button to
run a comprehensive
threat scan (5-15 minutes)
Program will notify of all
detected malware
Press Quarantine All
button to clear malware
Reboot computer if
required
VIRUS SCAN
Check the System Tray for the Microsoft
Security Essentials icon
o Green icon; no action required
o Yellow icon; scan required

Open Microsoft Security Essentials and press the Scan Now button (5-30 minutes)
If there is a RED icon, enable the program by turning on real-time protection
COMPUTER BACKUPS
NOTE! Computer backup drives are stored off-site. The Samsonite case with the two backup
drives should be brought in every week. One drive is labeled Office for the 3 office computers,
and the other is labeled Sanctuary for the youth facility and 2 sanctuary computers.
NOTE! Norton Ghost is used to back up all computers. The steps and procedures for each
computer are identical and listed below.
CONNECTING THE DRIVES
Both hard drives connect to each computer the same way
First power on the computer to backup
Plug the backup drive into the computer’s power strip
Plug the USB cable into an open port on the computer
NORTON GHOST
Open Norton Ghost from the system tray
o Click the hidden icons arrow
o Right-click on the ghost icon and select Open Norton Ghost
o Note that OFFICEMGR
computer may create an error
message; press Try Again
button until message goes
away
Click Run or Manage Backups link
Hold ctrl key and click both folders

Click Run Now button to start backups
Procedure takes time to complete; allow program to run in background
Once backup is complete, close all maintenance and backup programs and unplug drive
After all backups are done, return drives to foam cutout in briefcase
