ELC302 Electronic Devices and Circuits (EDC)

This course has been designed primarily as a core course for undergraduate students. It starts with basic circuit components and circuit

concepts and then, gradually moves to practical building blocks of analog electronic systems. In this course, a serious attempt has been

made to make a balance between theory and practice so that the discussed circuits can be constructed in an undergraduate level

laboratory class and their measured performance can be easily compared with the analytically predicted performance.

ELC301 Engineering Mathematics –III (EM-III)

In this course, students will be provided the requisite and relevant background necessary to understand other important engineering

mathematics courses offered in higher semesters. The students will be introduced Laplace transforms which is very useful for signal

processing and communication engineering. The area of Complex Analysis will also be introduced to students which will be useful in

further studies and competitive examinations like GRE, GATE and civil services. The areas like Probability, Sampling theory a nd

testing of Hypothesis will be explored for further business and engineering techniques. The students will be able to gain basic and

advanced knowledge of set theory, relations and functions which is useful for solving many engineering problems. The basic concepts

and techniques of Linear Algebra will be explored in this course. These techniques are very useful in recent trends of industry.

Digital circuits are the basic blocks of modern electronic devices like mobile phones, digital cameras, microprocessors and several

other devices. Digital circuits are part of any electronic design today. This also happens to be one of the core subjects for the

This course is aimed to provide exposure on applications of op-amps and its importance in the real world. Since analog circuits play a

crucial role in the implementation of an electronic system, this course emphasis on complete system designs with initial discussion on

circuit design. As part of this course student will be able to understand feedback techniques and its advantages, and also able to design

amplifiers, converters, filters and oscillators using Op-Amps.

Microcontroller and Applications (MCA)

Microprocessors are used extensively in the design of any computing facility. It contains units to carry out arithmetic and logic

calculations, fast storage in terms of registers and associated control logic to get instructions from memory and execute them.

Initially, an overview of 8085 microprocessor will be covered. Later, microcontroller 8051 will be discussed. Then, the interfacing of 8051 with several peripherals such as LED, LCD, Seven Segment display, stepper motor, and Relay will be covered.

Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) are at the core of most embedded computing and consumer devices, such as cell phones, media players and

automotive, aerospace or medical electronics. This course will provide an understanding of the concepts, issues, and process of

designing highly integrated SoCs following systematic hardware/software co-design & co-verification principles.

ELC702 Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)

Syllabus deals with issues in real time operating systems, importance of deadlines and concept of task scheduling. Student will be able

to understand and design real time operating systems which are backbone of embedded industry. The course teaches how to plan real-

time systems in theory using established mathematical proofs and how to implement them in practice by using the most common

scheduling methods.

ELC703 Embedded GPU Computing

The course covers basics of GPU architecture in terms of functional units and then dive into the popular CUDA programming model

commonly used for GPU programming. In this context, architecture specific details like memory access coalescing, shared memory

usage, GPU thread scheduling etc which primarily effect program performance are also covered in detail. We next switch to a

different SIMD programming language called OpenCL which can be used for programming both CPUs and GPUs in a generic

manner.

Wireless sensor networks are pervasive computing systems that consist of sensors embedded in the physical world. These systems have

many applications including long-term monitoring of habitats, finding parking spaces in crowded cities, or monitoring the physiology

and activity patterns of patients. Wireless sensor networks provide the basis for new computing paradigms that challenge many of the

classical approaches to developing distributed and networking systems.

This course will introduce the students to the state-of-the-art concepts and practices of remote sensing and GIS. It starts with the

fundamentals of remote sensing and GIS and subsequently advanced methods will be covered. This course is designed to give

comprehensive understanding on the application of remote sensing and GIS in solving the research problems. Upon completion, the

participants should be able to use remote sensing (Satellite images and Field data) and GIS.

The main intention of Mini Project is to make student enable to apply the knowledge and skills learned out of courses studied to

solve/implement predefined practical problem. The students undergo various laboratory/tutorial/simulation laboratory/work shop

courses in which they do experimentation based on the curriculum requirement. The Mini Project may be beyond the scope of

curriculum of courses taken or may be based on the courses but thrust should be on Learning additional skills This course will

develop ability of students to define and design the problem, and lead to its accomplishment with proper planning .Students will learn

behavioral science by working in a group. The topic of Mini Project I and II may be different and / or may be advancement in the

same topic.
