College Requirement Courses Descriptions Course Code: ENGL 115 Course Title: English for Humanities I This is the first course in a series of integrated skill course of threshold (intermediate level) designed for students of Arts and Humanities (except English major/minor students) in order to help them manage their studies and future careers. The course aims at raising students’ level of reading, vocabulary, and grammar. The course covers extensive and intensive readings on topics of general and academic interest, and grammar at B1 (CEFR). This course focuses more on reading and vocabulary encountered in academic situations and issues of general interest. The course links writing to grammar and vocabulary. Course Code: ENGL 116 Course Title: English for Humanities II This is the second course in a series of integrated skill course designed for students of Arts and Humanities (except English major/minor students) in order to help them manage their studies and future careers. It aims at raising students’ level to B1+ (Common European Framework of Reference – CEFR). It focuses on reading, vocabulary (academic vocabulary and vocabulary needed for everyday communication), writing continuous texts at multi-paragraph levels (with the aim of controlling basic sentence structure, verb tenses, and maintaining texture), and grammar. It emphasized longer reading texts and vocabulary encountered in academic situations and issues of general interest. The course links writing to grammar and vocabulary. Course Code: ENGL 222 Course Title: English for Humanities III This is the third course in a series of integrated skill course designed for students of Arts and Humanities (except English major/minor students) in order to help them manage their studies and future careers.
