A Peek at Last Week …
• Our Grade 6 & 7 classes started
their final exams on Monday 21
November.
• Our College learners from Grade
8 to 11 continued their final
exams on Monday 21 November
• Our Grade 12s completed their
final IEB exams on Thursday 24
November.
• Our senior drummers played at
the Air Force Gymnasium passing
out parade on Thursday 24 No-
vember.
• Our prospective Grade 1 learners
for 2012 attended an orientation
day on Friday 25 November.
• A small group of learners partici-
pated in Birding Big Day on Sat-
urday 26 November.
• The fourth monthly Organic
Earth Market was held in the
Founders’ Circle on Sunday 27
November. The fourth Organic earth Market was held on Sunday 27 November, in the Founders’ Circle. The market has grown in size from the first one held four months ago. A very pleasing
Mrs Liesel Marshall-Booysen managed to get a whole clutch of Giant Land Snail eggs to hatch out earlier this
aspect of the market was the attendance of a number of “non-Southern Cross” folk. As intended, it appears that the market is appealing to the wider Hoedspruit community.
Releasing Giant Land Snails year. The tiny snails have grown into quite a handful. Our pre-schoolers had fun releasing them last week.
Grade 1 Orientation Despite Mrs Sue Gibbs, our Grade 1 teacher being ill,
the Grade 1 Orientation morning went ahead as planned.
This was largely due to Ms Jessica Tatham and various
other staff stepping in and taking control of matters.
The Grade 1 class of 2012 were introduced to their
classroom environment and involved in some “Grade 1-
type” activities. They also attended the Prep-school
assembly with all the “big” children and then spent some
time enjoying the outdoors on the school playground. We
look forward to having them in the Prep School next
year.

Ms Gisela van Niekerk invited the parents of the young ladies that are doing ballet in the Pre-school to come and watch their last lesson of the year. The young ballerinas did their very best to impress their audience with their graceful dancing. Thanks to all the parents for their support.
Thank You:
• The Blair family for the dona-
tion of books;
• Lori van Eeden for the dona-
tion of books;
• All parents who supported our
Organic Earth Market this
month and
• Byron Wright and his team

trance road to the school.
LEAVE A LEGACY - STAKE YOUR CLAIM
The Parents Association under the inspired leadership of Mr Jurie Moolman has managed what many said was not possible. They have made great strides in providing Southern Cross with its very own sports fields. This has been made possible by the collective support of many friends and parents of the school, and we thank them! The job is far from com-plete, however, and now more than ever we need your support. You can “STAKE YOUR CLAIM” by donating a minimum of R100 to “purchase” a 10m2 plot of field. Your donation will result in your name appearing on a “leaving a legacy” wall alongside the field. For more information email Mitzi on [email protected] or call on 015 793 0590.
Spreading a Little Joy this Festive Season On Sunday a group of Prep School learners joined
the Hoedspruit Community Church to take pre-
sents to the children’s ward of Tintswalo Hospital.
Most of the donated gifts (new and second hand)
came from the children of Southern Cross
Schools. There were, in fact, too many gifts for
the amount of children in the hospital and the remainder will be donated towards a local crèche’s Christ-
mas party. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously.
