It is a pleasure to tell you about the many exciting things that hhappening at Harvey School. Conducting tours for school studgroups, and bus tours have kept teachers Pat Reed, Ardene SMinor and Carolyn Sand very busy during t he months, April thrthe school is open. We are pleased to have received so many about playing school at our historic one -room school.

The Board of Trustees continues to plan for improvements at tproperty surrounding it.

Through a $25,000 grant from t he Ohio Cultural Facthe parking lot was re-surfaced. This was needed to handicap code. Also, with these funds, a bell tower aconstructed in 2010.Through extensive documentation and a meeting witPreservation Society, the Harvey School was approvthe National Register of Historic Buildings.The acreage east of the parking lot has been seededand flowers. This was accomplished through the effoUxley, from the Crawford County Parks and Mary LeRandy Fortner, our site superintendent, makes everyschool and grounds in good repair.We continue to evaluate the educational programs w

The Harvey One-Room SchoolEndowment Fund was established in2007 and is associated with the BucyrusArea Community Foundation. The fundwas created to give individuals anopportunity to contribute to a tax-exemptorganization that is dedicated to thepromotion of the historical value ofeducation in Crawford County. Moneythat is donated to the Harvey SchoolEndowment Fund will always remain inthe fund. The fund will continue to growthrough the years and will generate theincome necessary to support theoperation, program and the maintenanceof the school as a living museum.

Contributions to the Endowment Fundare tax deductible and can be madeseveral ways. These include thefollowing:

Outright Gifts: Cash donationsHonorary Gifts: Funds andbequests to honor a relative, friendor staff member, or to commemorate

a special event, such as aretirement, birth or outstandingachievementDeferred Gifts: estate planning

In 2009, the Bucyrus Area CommunityFoundation sponsored Match Day for thepurpose of helping organizationsincrease their endowment funds. Fiftypercent match was given from moneyraised on December 9, 2009. We wereable to raise $3,240 with the match forthe Bucyrus Area CommunityFoundation.
