Course specification Theory of structures (2-B) C221

1. Course Aim

Main Aim

The course aims to develop an understanding of how structural elements behave under load and understand how a structural element responds to an applied load and induced deformations. Various methods for the solution of statically indeterminate structures; the extreme straining actions due to moving loads and distribution of normal stresses over the cross section taking into consideration the buckling of compression members are introduced.

Sub-Aims

1. Calculation methods of displacements occurred in the structures. 2. Solution of statically indeterminate structures. 3. Absolute B.M.D. and S.F.D. in the statically determinate and indeterminate structures

due to moving loads. 4. Distribution of normal stresses over the cross section taking into consideration the

buckling of compression members.

2. Course Content Deformations in Statically determinate Structures- Solution of Statically indeterminate Structures by using three moments equation – Moving loads – Buckling of columns.
