PROGRAMME INFORMATION On this programme students develop an extensive knowledge of dance genres and artistic endeavour in Māori, Samoan, Cook Islands and New Zealand contemporary dance. Students are encouraged to develop strengths in technique, performance and choreography. Third year students create a body of work for public performance. Teaching staff are experts in their field. The following staff will be teaching on this programme in 2017: > Tupe Lualua – Samoan Dance > Tuaine Robati – Cook Islands Dance and Professional Studies > Kereama Te Ua – Māori Performing Arts > Andy Tilo – New Zealand Contemporary Dance ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Students who complete the Diploma in Stage and Screen Arts, Diploma in Performing Arts – Singing or Dance, can apply to enrol in Year 3 of this programme and continue to major in acting, commericial dance or musical theatre. FURTHER STUDY OPTIONSGraduates can apply to enrol in postgraduate arts study.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIESGraduates develop careers as performers and choreographers within the dance and cultural tourism industries, or pursue further training for teaching.

QUALIFICATIONGraduates gain the Bachelor of Applied Arts (Performing Arts).

Students who pass two years of the degree may exit with a Diploma in Performing Arts.
