Beam Angle DALI is a two way communication system protocol for lighting that allows addressed ballasts to receive and send signals in order to provide a flexible controlled lighting solution.
DALI Digital Addressable Lighting Interface
The measure of luminous intensity of a light source in a given direction. Candela (cd)
The ability of a light source to render colours accurately and is measured by the Colour Rendering Index in ‘Ra’ on a scale of 0-100. The higher the number the more accurately the light source can render colour.
Colour Rendering
The measure of the colour appearance of a light source which describes the apparent warmth or coolness of that light source. Generally, light sources are described as either “warm”
“intermediate”, “cool” or “cold”. The letter “K” refers to Kelvin. Warm lamps are normally in the 1800-4500 Kelvin range, Cool lamps are normally in the 4500 to 6400 Kelvin Range.
Colour Temperature
A device in an electrical circuit used for varying the brightness of a light source within a lighting installation.
Dimmer
A device that manages power and controls the current flow for an LED lighting product. Some LED products have built in Drivers, in the lamp or fitting, others require, or are supplied with a driver to ensure the correct voltage and current is supplied to the lamp or luminaire.
Driver
Lighting used in the event of power failure. Luminaire types are usually either stand alone non--maintained operation (Emergency use only) or mains converted maintained operation (Mains + Emergency use).

Electronic control equipment that operates fluorescent lamps at a high frequency, thousands of Hz compared to a mains supply 50Hz. High frequency provides instant starting and removes stroboscopic effect (flickering), HF gear tends to be more energy efficient than older technologies such as magnetic control gear.

IP ratings are used to state the protection from solid objects and or liquids such as water.

Small semiconductor device that emits light with the advantages of low operation costs, compact size and long life.
LED (Light Emitting Diode)
Lux is the international unit for illumination measured in lumens per square metre.

Phase Dimming
Forward phase-control dimmers (also known as Leading Edge dimmers) control the amount of voltage available to a light source. The dimmer turns off part of the trailing edge of the AC sine wave for a pre-set amount of time, resulting in reduced lamp output (dimming).
Leading Edge
In simple terms, Lumens (lm) are a measure of the total amount of visible light (to the human eye) from a lamp or light source. The higher the lumen rating the “brighter” the lamp will appear.

The ratio of the minimum illuminance achieved within a space to that of the average achieved illuminance measured across the whole of the same space.
Uniformity
Measure of electrical power. 1000 Watts = 1kw. Most domestic users electricity bill is calculated by KWh. Kilowatts used per hour. The lower the wattage the cheaper to run.
Wattage or Watts
The Potential difference measured between two points on an electrical installation. The Voltage in Australia is between 220 and 240 volts.

A compact, low profile 360˚ passive infrared (PIR) sensor head with separate relay output module.
The sensor head includes a detection lens which senses both Minor and Major Movement (as defined by NEMA Standard WD 7 - 2011 for Occupancy Motion Sensors). Movement is detected via a sensor array with 864 fields of view (FOV), ensuring reliable operation to a distance of 7m diameter. The device also includes a light sensor for detecting ambient light levels.
Adjustment sliders for time-out and light level are discreetly hidden in the patented sensor head which pops out providing easy configuration after installation, without any tools.
The separate slim-line one channel and two channel control modules for switching connected loads easily passes into the ceiling space through the sensor head ceiling aperture, allowing easy installation and maintenance.
