Back to School Safely
School Safety Your child may come into contact with a bully or see bullying
happening
Bullying is NOT a normal part of growing up; it is not a rite of passage
Students should know the difference between “tattling” and asking an adult for help
It is never tattling when someone is getting hurt

Meeting someone in person from online interactions can be dangerous
People may create false accounts, use others’ pictures
Everyone should understand that what is posted online is there FOREVER

Cyber safety Do not engage someone online who is sending threatening
messages. Block them and ignore them.
Having as much proof as possible will help when approaching the school and possibly the police
If you or your child receives threatening emails, texts, pictures, etc. save the information!
Take a picture of the screen
Print out e-mails and text conversations
