The patented Modu-link™ canning technique is the foundation for every emission control product in our portfolio regardless of baffle size, substrate material, or regeneration method. The canning pro-cess is the most environmentally friendly in the industry; Modu-link™ cans are mechanically formed and weld free. Apart from their environmental benefits, mechanically formed parts are stronger and resist corrosion more effectively than welded options. Modu-link™ inlet, outlet, and catalyst module combi-nations can be designed individually, component-by-component, or together

as a kit. All Modu-link™ systems feature mono-directional flow sleeves and unique Modu-link™ couplings that ensure zero leakage and limit the chance of body fractures from heat expansion. Replacement parts are available as single components, and our universal Modu-link™ adaptors allow any of our modular components to be fitted to every currently available OEM or retrofit emission reduction system. Modu-link™ systems are upgradeable; in 2014 will you need NOx reduction? Smart-Trap™ Active Regeneration:

The most application friendly option avail-able from DET. Our line of active diesel particulate filters accommodate virtually any application regardless of duty cycle and temperature profile.

Passive Diesel Particulate Filters:

DET’s passive diesel particulate filters remove >90% of PM, HC, and CO in the exhaust stream. The cordierite fil-ters are canned using DET’s patented Modu-Link™ canning technique. Spe-cially formulated wash coats have been developed to satisfy the unique duty cycle requirements of the stationary, off-road, and on-road markets.

DET Selective Catalyst Reduction:

Removes >90% of NOx. The SCR cata-lyst is a ceramic coated unit that operates by injecting aqueous ammonia or urea into the exhaust stream using a pump and our Smart-Ecu™

DET Back-Traker and Smart-Ecu™:

Regardless of regeneration method the DET data logger will constantly monitor temperature and backpressure. In our ac-tive systems the Smart-Ecu™ also con-trols the HC injection system and active regeneration intervals. The Back-Traker™ unit used in our passive systems contains a unique soot loading index which mea-sures the accumulation levels in the filter and notifies the driver when cleaning is needed.


Ultra-Trap™4

The Ultra-Trap™:

The DET Ultra-Trap™ DPF is a passively regenerating filter for the class 8 on-road truck market. It consists of a catalyzed cordierite diesel par-ticulate filter (DPF). The substrate material is coated with a highly active metal oxide wash coat and a specially formulated precious metal catalyst formula-tion. The substrate material is canned using DET’s patented weld free Modu-Link™ technology. The special catalyst coating effectively lowers the particulate mat-ter’s combustion temperature to a level that is closer to that reached during the engines normal duty cycle. Data logging to determine the exhaust tem-perature profile is very important to proper DPF functionality and is used to ensure proper soot combustion can and will take place. An added benefit for passively regenerating systems like the Ultra-Trap™ is that they do not re-quire the use of fuel additives, burners, or additional power sources, and have no moving parts. The Ultra-Trap™ system consists of a catalyzed diesel particulate fil-ter (cDPF) positioned in the exhaust system of a diesel engine. The operating principle for a cDPF is that the exhaust gas enters multiple channels of the ce-ramic substrate that contains cell plugs at the opposite end. The plugged ends force the gas through the porous walls of the filter trapping more than 90% of the Particulate Matter (PM), Carbon monoxide (CO), and Hydrocarbons (HC) in the exhaust stream. The catalyst formulation transforms the CO and HC into carbon dioxide and water as they pass through the filter walls. The chart at the bottom of the page graphically illustrates the pollutant reduction rates.

The Ultra-Trap™ is designed to replace the existing silencer, in ei-ther universal or vehicle specific kit applications. The duty cycle requirements for the DET Ultra-Trap™ to passively regenerate are as follows:

• Peaks of min. 400°C• Average min. 220°C• Above 260°C for 30% of duty cycle (DC)• Above 300°C for 15% of DC• Above 350°C for 5% of DC

Envi-Trap™:

The DET Envi-Trap™ DPF is a passively regenerating filter for the stationary gen-set market. The Envi-trap’s™ wash coat was designed to take advantage of specific temperature and duty cycle requirements found in the stationary engine market.

The operating principles are the same as the Ultra-Trap™ DPF described ear-lier. The duty cycle requirements for the DET Envi-Trap™ are as follows:

· Peaks of min. 425°C· Average min. 250°C· Above 350°C for 30% of duty cycle (DC)· Above 400°C for 20% of DC

Oxy-trap™:

The DET Oxy-trap™ DPF is a passively regenerating filter developed for the non-road market. Similar to our other passively regenerating DPF’s, the Oxy-Trap’s™ wash coat and precious metal catalyst coating have been specifically designed to take advantage of temperature profiles usually found during the duty cycle of a non-road vehicle.

The operating principles are the same as the Ultra-Trap™ DPF described ear-lier. The duty cycle requirements for the DET Oxy-trap™ are as follows:

· Peaks of min. 400°C· Average min. 250°C· Above 300°C for 30% of duty cycle (DC)· Above 330°C for 15% of DC· Above 375°C for 5% of DC

Smart-Trap™:

The DET Smart-trap™ DPF combines elements of our passive DPF technolo-

gies with an active hydrocarbon injection system. This is an optimal product

for engines with duty cycles that fail to meet the minimum temperature re-

quirements for a solely passive regenerating system. The injection mecha-

nism utilizes a state of the art computer controller (DET Smart-ECU™) which

minimizes the fuel penalty by constantly monitoring the exhaust stream to

maintain optimal regeneration temperatures. The DPF substrate material can

be coated with a precious metal catalyst coating similar to our passive sys-

tems, but with lower precious metal content. The Smart-Traps™ contain an

extra HC catalyst module located directly before the DPF brick which uses

the injected DEF to raise temperatures in the can to levels that allow for re-

generation.

Data logging:

Data logging is a required step in selecting an appropriate retrofit technology for any engine. The data logging process requires the engine to be fitted with a data logging device for a time usually lasting 3-4 times the average daily duty cycle. The data logging process graphically illustrates the temperature profile for the engine in question and will determine which DET emissions control product is best suited for the specific application. Although there are a host of variables that contribute to proper DPF functionality, tem-perature is often seen as the most important one. In most cases, if the tem-perature profile meets the required levels, the filter in question will regenerate properly.

The DET Backtraker™ data log device should be installed prior to fitting any Modu-Link™ DPF. If the temperature profile meets the minimum require-ments for installation the data logging unit will remain installed for the life-time of your DPF. When fitted in combination with a passive DPF system, the Back- Traker™ will monitor backpressure, temperature, and the soot load index (SLI). If fitted with an active Smart-Trap™ the Backtraker™ becomes the Smart-Ecu™ and takes control of additive dosing, active regeneration in-tervals, and SCR systems while still monitoring the aforementioned variables (BP, Temp, SLI). The Backtraker™ and Smart-Ecu™ have been developed to run with DET’s patented DPF Track and Trace program which remotely moni-tors DPF functionality, location (similar to a low-jack), and aids in diagnosing the service and repair intervals and needs of each DPF, individually.

The two mounting rings are welded to the inlet/outlet of your DPF and accommodate every modular DPF component in our product line. Color Coded Schedule Indicator: This system allows for the proper maintenance of all DET products without the hassles of tedious and overbearing paperwork. The color coded couplings indicate the service interval of each product, and were specifically designed to expedite the service and repair process. All DET DPF’s are factory fitted with a red coupling service indicator which indicates a first fit coupling.

The DET Tru-Traker™ is a light duty data log-ger. It is small in size and plugs directly into your computer after the duty cycle logging has been completed. Cheap and easy, it is a great option for customers looking for a simple to use data logger.
