Why a technology center?

A digital divide is an economic inequality between groups in terms of access to, use of, or knowledge of information and communication technologies. Black and Latino groups combined account for 23 percent of the U.S. population between the ages of 22 and 75, but they are only 6 percent of practicing engineers. The more frequently a student has access to S.T.E.M. education, the more opportunities they have to gain skills that can lead to careers in Math & Science related fields. The Baldwin Hills Technology Center will produce a more educated minority workforce.
