Minimum Ball Diameter

• Grading table will indicate minimum ball diameter for each grade.

• Bigger plants should have a larger diameter ball to capture a larger percentage of the root system.

Ball Depth

• Ball depth is related to ball diameter.Ball Diameter Ball Depth

< 20 inches Diameter x 75%

20 – 30 inches Diameter x 66%

>30 inches Diameter x 60%

Ball Depth

• A 18 inch diameter ball should have a depth of:

• 18 x .75 = 13.5 inches• Round that up to 14 inches.
