Introduction Of Cricket

Cricket grew out of many stick-and-ball games played in England 500 years ago, under a variety of different rules.

The word ‘bat’ is an old English word that simply means stick or club. By the seventeenth century, cricket had evolved enough to be recognizable as a distinct

game and it was very popular. The game was expected to represent all that English valued- fair play, discipline and

gentlemanliness.

History Of Cricket

Earlier cricket used to thrive greatly as a gambling game. People used to place huge amounts of bets in matches and thus the game started to get recognition. Cricket was in fact a major gambling sport towards the end of the 17th century .

By the 17th century the game was quite popular as a rough rural pastime, but in the following century the leisure classes took up the sport, particularly in Sussex, Kent, and London.

In the year 1787, the Marylebone Cricket Club also known MCC was created. The MCC has since then gone on to become one of the most prominent bodies in world cricket .

Late18th century was a very crucial phase for the development of the game, both within and outside Britain. The game was spread far and wide mainly due to England’s imperialism

The bats used presently are much different from the bats used previously.

First bats of 1720, had a curving outwards at the bottom. This shape gave the batsmen the best chance of

making contact as the ball was thrown underarm.

Introduction Of Bangladesh Cricket

The Bangladesh National Cricket Team is a national cricket team representing Bangladesh. The team is

administered by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Bangladesh is a full member of the International Cricket

Council (ICC).

History Of Bangladesh Cricket The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) tour of Bangladesh

during the winter of 1976/77 marked the entrance of Bangladesh into international cricket.

In 1977, Bangladesh became an Associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).Bangladesh was one of fifteen teams to take part in the inaugural ICC Trophy.

In 1979, ICC gave non-Test playing countries the opportunity to qualify for that year's World Cup.

Victory in the South-East Asian Cricket Conference Tournament in February 1984 ensured Bangladesh qualified for the 1986 Asia Cup.

On 31 March 1986, Bangladesh played their first One Day International against a full member of the ICC.

Bangladesh qualified for the 1988 Asia Cup, this time hosting the tournament; it was the first time ODIs had been staged in the country.

Bangladesh took part in each of the 1982, 1986, 1990, and 1994 editions of the ICC Trophy, and won the trophy in 1997, in the process qualifying for the 1999 World Cup.

In 1999, Bangladesh played its first World Cup in England.

It played its first Test match in 2000 (against India at Dhaka), becoming the tenth Test cricket playing nation.

History Debut In International Cricket

On 31 March 1986, Bangladesh played in its first ODI match against Pakistan in the 1986 Asia Cup

Won ICC Trophy

Bangladesh won the 1997 ICC Trophy in Malaysia. By winning the tournament, Bangladesh qualified for the 1999 Cricket World Cup for the first time, where they defeated Pakistan, creating one of the biggest upsets in their cricketing history and also defeated Scotland. In 1997, Bangladesh became a regular ICC member with the right to play ODIs. It attained the status of a Test playing nation on 26 June 2000.

Test Status Granted

Bangladeshis celebrating Test StatusBangladesh received it’s Test status from the International Cricket Council in 2000,which is a requirement for the countries to play Test cricket. Bangladesh became the tenth test cricket paying nation.

History Debut In Test Cricket

On 13 November 2000, Bangladesh played their inaugural Test match, hosting India in Dhaka becoming the tenth test cricket paying nation.

History Debut In T20 CricketBangladesh played their 1st t20 match against Zimbabwe on 28th Nov 2006.

Bangladeshi batsman Aminul Islam raises his hands to celebrate after hitting a century 11 November 2000 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on the second day of Bangladesh's inaugural test match against India. Bangladesh’s Maiden Test Victory

Bangladesh ended a four-year wait for their maiden Test victory as they secured a 226-run win over Zimbabwe.

Future Steps

Recently in a press conference BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon said his target is BD team will ascend in number 5 ranking in One day international within next World cup. Next steps will be taken towards that.
