It’s Never Too Early to Start Saving for CollegeYou might think that your middle school-aged child has years to go before faced with the challenges brought on by the college experience. By starting a college savings program now, some of that financial burden may be lessened. CAP COM Federal Credit Union offers several options for parents and children to save money. If you aren’t sure where to begin, talk with our College Specialist Kim Donah.

Youth Savings ProgramsCAP COM realizes the important role financial education plays in life, and that’s why we offer products and programs for kids of all ages. Our Youth Accounts help children manage money so that, as they grow, so will their savings.

CertifiKID*Stash your child’s savings in a CertifiKID! Your child’s money will grow faster than in a regular savings account. Add money at any time! *Penalty for early withdrawals. Available in 18- or

36-month term.

Great Grades Bring in your child’s report card and we’ll deposit $10 into his or her account! Your child can earn a total of $40 every year ($10 per quarter) for submitting a report card each term until they graduate from high school.

Reading Programs During winter and summer months, children can earn up to $15 for reading up to five books ($3 per book.) The program runs twice per year and is a great way to get kids to read and save some money for college!

College Savings Club AccountSave for your child’s education through Payroll Deduction into a College Savings Club Account and make withdrawals at any time without penalty. Keep a balance of $100 or more and earn dividends.

Making a Difference AwardThe Making a Difference Award is given to teen members between the ages of 13 and 17 who have made a significant commitment to volunteer work and community service. In addition, winners will receive $100 to donate to the charity of their choice. Nominations can be made by a parent, teacher or friend and teens can nominate themselves.

Payroll Deduction A great way to systematically save over time. Just $10 or $20 every paycheck can add up to thousands over a 10-year period.
