In 2008, we were asked to produce a limited edition of tables for Established & Sons LIMITED gallery in London. The project was called Iris.
Iris
Our starting point is usually to make sketches and models of our work. For this project, however, the process started with colour studies...
Iris
We decided on which colours to use by laying out the colour chips in sequence

Iris
We then went on to produce drawings on the computer to lay out the components of the tables
Once we had decided on the design, individual, machined-aluminium sections were produced to make-up the tables.
Iris
The individual aluminium parts were then anodised to produce the different coloured sections of each table. This involves treating the metal then dying and sealing it - in much the same way as developing a photographic film with chemicals.

With the help of our sister studio, Universal Design Studio, we also work on architectural projects such as this one for high street fashion brand, H&M.

We also create material studies like these to show the different effects light will have on a building - in this case, the perforations in the pleated facade are backlit at night to create this effect...

We made our design flexible so that it can be adapted for each individual site around the world and used on buildings internally and externally.
