Home News Venues & Events Barbican’s Conservatory gardener to speak at The Landscape Show 2015

Category: Venues & Events Created on Monday, 15 June 2015 14:00

The Barbican is reaching out to the horticultural world with The Conservatory’s Craftsperson Gardener Marta Lowcewicz speaking at The Landscape Show

2015 in September.

The show, which will be held at London’s Battersea Park on the 22nd and 23rd September, is established as the essential trade event for discerning

landscape designers, architects, contractors, facilities managers and interior designers involved in some of the most important, prestigious and valuable

projects in the UK and internationally.

The Barbican’s Conservatory is the second largest glasshouse of its kind in London and is home to exotic fish and more than 2,000 species of tropical plants and trees.

“The opportunity to bring the Conservatory to the forefront at The Landscape Show 2015 by sharing my story is an exciting prospect,” comments Marta Lowcewicz,

Craftsperson Gardener at the Barbican. “I started out working on window boxes early on in my career so to now find myself working in a magical place such as the Barbican

Conservatory is something I hope will inspire those who attend my session.”

Marta’s session ‘From Window Boxes To Conservatories’ will begin from 1pm on Wednesday 23rd September. Those looking to register for tickets to The Landscape Show

and to hear more from Marta should visit www.landscapeshow.co.uk for further information.

“We are all very proud of Marta and the stunning work that she and the rest of Conservatory team do to make our own tropical paradise something special in the heart of

London,” said Jackie Boughton, Head of Sales at Barbican Business Events. “Those attending her session at The Landscape Show in September will surely be inspired by

her journey from window boxes to the Barbican Conservatory!”

The Landscape Show is the UK's leading trade event dedicated to products, services and innovation for the design, build and management of exterior and interior landscape

projects.

The Conservatory is just one of many spaces available for corporate events and weddings at the Barbican.

Home News Shows Barbican’s Conservatory to be re-launched at The Meetings Show

Category: Show Created on Friday, 19 June 2015 10:30

The Barbican will be re-launching its Conservatory event space at The Meetings Show on stand G22 next month.

The Conservatory is a hidden tropical oasis. Home to exotic fish and 2,000 species of plants and trees, it is the second largest glass house in London, and one

of the Barbican’s most popular event spaces.

“The Conservatory is undoubtedly a unique event space in the City of London,” comments Oliver Hargreaves, Deputy Head of Sales at Barbican Business Events. “Its

versatility when it comes to events really makes it popular amongst delegates here and by re-launching it at The Meetings Show in July we hope to bring it to a whole new

audience that may otherwise not have known about it. If you’re looking for a unique venue in the heart of London then come and see us on stand G22 and learn more about

the Conservatory.”

Protected by its glass roof the Conservatory is suitable to be used in any weather conditions and can accommodate up to 100 delegates for a standing fork buffet or 150

guests for a drinks reception. A staircase leads to the terrace which creates a flexible networking space for events overlooking the tropical treetops of the Conservatory. Up to

200 delegates can be accommodated on the terrace for either a drinks reception or private dining.

The Barbican will be attending The Meetings Show 2015 between Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th July at Olympia, London on stand G22. For further information on The

Meetings Show, visit www.themeetingsshow.com

Conservatory Gardner to represent Barbican at

Landscape Show

The Barbican is reaching out to the horticultural world with The Conservatory’s Craftsperson

Gardener Marta Lowcewicz speaking at The Landscape Show 2015 in September.

The show, which will be held at London’s Battersea Park on the 22nd and 23rd September, is

established as the essential trade event for discerning landscape designers, architects,

contractors, facilities managers and interior designers involved in some of the most important,

prestigious and valuable projects in the UK and internationally.

The Barbican’s Conservatory is the second largest glasshouse of its kind in London and is home to

exotic fish and more than 2,000 species of tropical plants and trees.

“The opportunity to bring the Conservatory to the forefront at The Landscape Show 2015 by sharing

my story is an exciting prospect,” comments Marta Lowcewicz, Craftsperson Gardener at the

Barbican. “I started out working on window boxes early on in my career so to now find myself

working in a magical place such as the Barbican Conservatory is something I hope will inspire those

who attend my session.”

Marta’s session ‘From Window Boxes To Conservatories’ will begin from 1pm on Wednesday 23rd

September. Those looking to register for tickets to The Landscape Show and to hear more from

Marta should visit www.landscapeshow.co.uk for further information.

"We are all very proud of Marta and the stunning work that she and the rest of Conservatory team

do to make our own tropical paradise something special in the heart of London,” said Jackie

Boughton, Head of Sales at Barbican Business Events. “Those attending her session at The

Landscape Show in September will surely be inspired by her journey from window boxes to the

Barbican Conservatory!”

The Landscape Show is the UK's leading trade event dedicated to products, services and

innovation for the design, build and management of exterior and interior landscape projects.

The Conservatory is just one of many spaces available for corporate events and weddings at the

Barbican. Further information can be acquired by contacting the Business Events Team: +44 (0)20

All Enter The ICE Awards Launched To

Honour In-House Event Planners

The inaugural International Corporate Events (ICE) Awards taking place at the British Museum on 9 July, have been

created specifically to recognise the success of in-house corporate planners.

The ICE Awards have been conceived by a steering group of senior events professionals, whose mission in defining the

categories and entry criteria was to honour in-house corporate event teams and departments.

Steering group member Joanna Lawlor, Global Events Director, AstraZeneca, said: “It’s absolutely right that in-house

professionals are rewarded for their commitment and hard work, as they are teams which often don’t get the recognition

they deserve.

“Industry event awards are usually the arena of the big event agencies of the world, so the different approach with these

awards being given to in-house corporate event planners for a change is a welcome addition to the industry calendar.”

Her fellow steering group members are Sarah Alspach, UK Head of Brand and Communication, BNP Paribas; Sam

Coates, Head of Marketing, Keith Prowse; Kate Conway, Events Manager, Hyundai Car UK; Paul Davey, CEO, FTC;

Sofia Godinho-Murwill, UK Head of Events, Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking; Nancy John, Event

Manager, BP and Tony Jones, Director, One Nucleus.

The ICE Awards are being sponsored by the Event Marketing Association, The Meetings Show, Barbican, Gallowglass

Group, GES, Moving Venue, Noodle Live, the SECC, Moving Venue, White Light Events and Ya-Ya Regie.

The Awards event itself has been deliberately designed to break the mould of traditional awards ceremonies, instead

offering a fun networking opportunity at an impactful venue. Producer Anita Howard of Red-Box Communications said:

“We’ve all been stuck at awards events where you sit for hours losing the will to listen. The Ice Awards team are working

hard to produce a fast-paced evening with plenty of time for actively engaging with each other rather than staring at the

big screen.”

With this in mind the awards ceremony itself has been honed to a 20-minute slot, spotlighting just eight objective-based

categories, including Best Cultural Change Event, Best Relationship Building Event and Best Sponsorship Activation. In

addition to the eight event categories will be a single category honouring individual performance – the Rising Star Award.

Deadline for entry to the awards is 30 June. Chairman of Judges Sam Coates, Keith Prowse said: “Response has been

very encouraging but we’re still hoping to lure more in-house events organisers out of the closet. They are a modest

bunch, not used to being congratulated on their excellent behind-the-scenes work.”

Judging the entries will be a panel of 24 senior professionals from across the events industry spectrum, including:

Samme Allen, SECC; Alex Butler, Wolf & White; Ben Goedegebuure, Maritz; Adam Pike, Saville AV and Laura Taylor,

The Fresh Group.
