BARCELONA
Located at the extreme north-east of the Iberian peninsula,Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain and alsothe capital of Catalonia, an autonomous region and oneof the most ancient communities in Spain and in Europe.Fabulous architecture, world class museums, history,culture, fine foods and wines, fashionable shopping –Barcelona has it all. About four million people live in andaround the city. Catalans are known for their independentspirit, creativity, hard-working disposition, peaceful andopen-minded personality, and sense of humor.
Since its founding over two thousand years ago, Barcelonahas been the traditional gateway to Spain. Three periodsin particular have molded Barcelona’s distinctive cityscapein its history: the Roman period, the Gothic age, and thelate nineteenth century, The city is now the center of animportant industrial zone. The Barcelona we enjoy todayis a new Barcelona, a vibrant and captivating Europeancapital shaped by the ’92 Olympics, Mediterranean inkeeping with its traditions, with its face to the sea andits arms open to other cultures and peoples.
LanguageIn Barcelona, as in the rest of Catalonia, there are twoofficial languages, Spanish and Catalan, both comingfrom Latin but quite different from one another. Roadsigns and other informative text may only be in Catalan.In most tourist places, you should have no trouble findingpeople who speak English.
Climate and ClothingBarcelona is usually mildly warm and humid in June.Average temperatures in July: 25º C / 78º F. There maybe occasional showers at this time of the year.

The Course is organized in a mixed Review andCase-study format: Up-date conferences on relevantareas of Pathology including Bone, Breast,Gynecological, Genitourinary, Head and Neck,Lymphoid, Thoracic, and Nervous System tumors,will be combined with interactive case presentationsbased on a set of cases that will be previouslydistributed to the attendees registering before April15. Those registering after that date will receivethis set of glass slides on-site. The slide set willbe available for the first 100 registrants only.

Course fee is 395 euros and includes tuition, handout,as well as coffee breaks and three lunches. A set ofglass slides from the cases presented during thecourse will be included in the registration fee for thefirst 100 participants. There will be a special fee of250 euros for residents (glass slides not included).
