Welcome

Dear participants, guests and friends,

For most of you it might still seem a while away, but we are already working on the preparations for the Baroque Event Moravita 2012! The date for this international, unique event is set for Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday the 30th of September in 2012. Behind the scenes our enthusiastic team of directors, volunteers and students is already working hard to make the Baroque Event Moravita a large success again. To keep all of our guests, participants, sponsors and volunteers updated, we decided to publish a monthly Baroque Event Newsletter. In total, we will write 8 of these newsletters- the first one to be published in February, the last one to be published in September, about one week before the actual Baroque Event. Hereby we would like to present to you our very first Baroque Event Newsletter, containing the newest updates and latest information on the event, wonderful photos of the Baroque Event 2010, and loads more. Two of 2010 visitors will share their feelings about the Baroque Event 2010, Aletta Duivenvoorden will tell us something about the background of this unique event, and this month's highlighted sponsor is Nikki de Kerf. We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and hope to see you back in September during the Baroque Event Moravita 2012!

Website Baroque Event Moravita is now online

We think most of you will have already seen it: the Baroque Event Moravita now has its own website, available in both Dutch and English!

You can find this new website online at www.baroqueeventmoravita.com.

The Baroque Event Moravita website contains all important information on the event: from general information and the people behind Moravita, to our mission and vision, the fantastic prices which are made available by our wonderful sponsors, and of course the mandatory elements for the freestyle kur (Elementary to Grand Prix level). On our way to the event there will be more and more information available to our guests and visitors: the latest updates, entry forms for the freestyle kür and more information on the program will be added to the information that is already on the website. Besides that we will also give you the very first updates on the 2012 Gala Evening soon, which we are already busy preparing for. One thing we can already promise you is that, partly thanks to our amazing main sponsors BSS Horsetransports (http://www.paardentransporten.nl), this unique gala evening will be a huge success once again! Besides our own Baroque Event Moravita website, we are also very active on our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter. Visit our pages and ‘Like’ or ‘Follow’ us to stay updated on the latest news and fantastic photos!

Baroque Event 2012 dedicated to the freestyle kür

Given the overwhelming fervor for the dressage freestyle kur during the event in 2010, Moravita decided to focus completely on these kurs during the Baroque Event of 2012. There will be freestyle competitions ridden on no less than five different levels! Some of our visitors might have noticed it already, but this is one level more as we organised last year. The K5-kur will be an International Grand Prix kur, based on the requirements set by de FEI. Requirements and mandatory elements for this kur will be published in march. The mandatory elements for the other musical dressage kurs K1 - K4 (Elementary to St. Prix George/Big Tour) can already be found at our website.

Program

Behind the scenes the preparations for Baroque Event Moravita 2012 are in full swing already. Instructing our working students, organising a spectacular program for our visitors and having several meetings with our fantastic sponsors are only a few of our many activities. The program for Friday will be a big surprise, and we hope to be able to give you some more information very soon... Saturday and Sunday will both be dominated by the freestyle kur, from elementary to Grand Prix level! For Saturday evening we’ve got an impressive and intense gala evening planned, just like we had last year. In 2010 this gala evening was a large success, thanks to our main sponsor BSS Horsetransports and the fantastic galashow of Hofreitschule Bückeburg! Even now, years later, our former visitors still have not stopped mentioning how amazing this night was to them.

With BSS Horse Transports being our main sponsor again in 2012, we are sure we can offer our visitors an alike, unforgettable experience this evening!

Aletta Duivenvoorden On the background of the Baroque Event Moravita

Aletta Duivenvoorden is, together with her husband Ton Duivenvoorden, owner of the Moravita Classical Breeding & Training Centre in Coevorden, the Netherlands. For years they have been breeding and training baroque horses according to their own beliefs and philosophy, and not without success. As well in- as outside the country borders of the Netherlands they have gained large popularity and are very well-known for their baroque breeds like the Frederiksborger or Lipizzaner, and for their classical riding and training methods. Besides from this, they also organise the largest baroque event in Europe: the Baroque Event Moravita. A unique event for both horse lovers as well as their friends and family. Today, Ton and Aletta are proud to look back on a very successful Baroque Event in 2010 and are already well on their way preparing for the Baroque Event Moravita 2012.

In this first Baroque Event Newsletter, Aletta Duivenvoorden will tell us some more about the background of this fantastic, unique event. “For years I’ve had the dream to organise a successful and international event where passion and love for the baroque horses and the art of classical dressage would play a main role. An event where visitors will already look forward to, months in advance. An event where the day itself you wake up and feel just as excited as if it were to be your own birthday. An event that would make you want to skip breakfast and every other morning routine, just to leave home and arrive at the event as early as possible... And, once you arrived, all your expectations and dreams come true. It is like you enter a whole new world, but immediately feel right at home: the impressive baroque horses, proud riders, wonderful accommodation and perfect music… All those people who came over there to share their passions and dreams, and the unique atmosphere and feeling this brings: to me and the many others who know us, this is what we would like to call ‘the Moravita-feeling’- and we would just love to share this feeling with all our friends and visitors! Organising the Baroque Event Moravita 2010 was very exciting for both me and Ton, but thanks to our fantastic sponsors and volunteers the event was an amazing success! Visitors turned their weekend into a complete holiday off, together with friends and family. They shared their passion and love for the baroque breeds and classical dressage, and had an unforgettable experience during the intense and impressive galashow by Hofreitschule Bückeburg. The Baroque Event Moravita 2010 was an overwhelming success and it felt fantastic to see my dream coming true.”

"The complete event, from the beauty of the horses to the friendliness of all the people, that unique ‘Moravita-atmosphere’ I mentioned earlier… I don’t think I could have wished for anything more, it was just perfect. For a moment I even thought ‘How will we ever be able to organise an event like this again? We can’t possibly make it more wonderful than it was this year…” But of course I could not resist thinking of organising the Baroque Event again… all kinds of new, wild ideas, and images of what the 2012 event should look like, popped into my head now and then. Maybe we should just organise the event again, not despite but because of its huge success in 2010. Maybe we should even organise it on a regular basis, let’s say… every two year or so? Our visitors and participants of the Baroque Event Moravita 2010 were clear in their opinion: even a year later they were still as enthusiastic about the event as ever!

It was like the questions and hints were coming from all sides. “When will you organise another Baroque Event?”, “Would you please be so kind to tell me if the entry forms for the next freestyle kur are online?” or “Well, if you are going to organise a galashow again next year, please be sure to tell us on time, so we can be first to buy tickets!” With all these positive responses we could not resist organising another Baroque Event. At this very moment the preparations for the Baroque Event Moravita 2012 are already in full swing since quite some months! With the many great ideas and our large group of fantastic volunteers and sponsors, we are sure the Baroque Event will be a huge success again! For me myself it is of course touching to see so many people helping us to make our dream come true once again. I promise you we will give all we have to realise an amazing weekend for you again during the Baroque Event Moravita 2012. Our solid basis of volunteers has only expanded since 2010, and together with several ambitious working students we are devoted to only one main purpose: To meet each other again in September 2012, share our love and passion for all the fantastic baroque breeds and the art of classical riding, and to experience many wonderful and unique moments again, together!”

We would love to meet you during the Baroque Event

Moravita 2012!

My Baroque Event

By Simone Lienert & Dina Hodde

“Looking back at a fantastic and successful competition weekend” My Baroque Event 2010- By Simone Lienert

http://www.caballos-de-la-luz.de This way we would like to thank the amazing organisers of the Baroque Event Moravita 2010: Aletta and Ton Duivenvoorden of the Classical Breeding & Training Centre Moravita. Thanks to their commitment and also thanks to the many enthusiastic volunteers, our competition weekend in the wonderful Coevorden turned into an unforgettable experience.

It was literally the first time ever in Europe that someone organised such a huge, international event for baroque horses! If you ask me, there really is no other baroque event that can compare itself to the Baroque Event Moravita… The perfect organisation, qualified FN-judges, unique atmosphere and fantastic hospitality, and the wonderful accommodation all made the Baroque Event 2010 an absolute highlight to us! Aletta en Ton, we are looking forward to meeting you again in September, during the Baroque Event Moravita 2012!

“The best competition of the year 2010!” My Baroque Event 2010 - by Dina Hodde

The Baroque Event Moravita 2010 was simply amazing: an unforgettable experience. I can still remember this fantastic weekend as if it had been just yesterday… Usually I am, at first, a bit skeptical when it comes to travelling longer distances for a competition with my horses, especially since I have quite specific wishes and high standards to ensure my horses their welfare. But the moment we arrived at the Moravita Estate, I loosened up immediately, like the weight just dropped off my shoulders. The accommodation and all circumstances where truly first class, with as a bonus the fantastic hospitality, the unique and friendly atmosphere, the unequalled organisation and not to forget the fantastic weather that weekend. To me, this event was honestly the best competition of all 2010. I can’t wait for the Baroque Event Moravita 2012, I hope to see you again!”

Nikki de Kerf - Photographer

Nikki de Kerf - Equine Photography with a passion

Nikki de Kerf is a 22-year old passionate photographer, specialised in portrait photography of both animal and human. What started out as a hobby in 2004 became more of a profession throughout the years. And what else could someone wish for, than to turn your passion into your profession? In 2009 she graduated at photo school 'Statief' in Utrecht, the Netherlands, where she received the highest marks for her graduation project out of over a 100 other first-year students. Currently she studies 'Equine, Leisure and Sports', an equine business- and marketing study at the Van Hall Larenstein in Wageningen. This way Nikki hopes to combine her love for horses with her passion for photography. She finds it both challenging and satisfying to capture the true 'spirit' of each horse on her photos. With the years, she clearly created her own

unique style in doing so, which makes her work easy to recognise among others. Apart from offering photoshoots for both personal and commercial purposes, Nikki also offers a wide

base of equine stockphotos and will start sharing her knowledge and ideas by giving workshops in Equine Photography from April 2012 on. For more information, feel free to visit her website:

Nikki de Kerf and the Baroque Event Moravita

"In 2008 I met Ton and Aletta Duivenvoorden for the first time, when they organised the first Frederiksborger performance test in the Netherlands. Once I entered the stables, I immediately fell

in love with the wonderful baroque horses of Moravita. Not just the Frederiksborger horses, but also the many other breeds had that amazing and intense 'look' that I was searching for in a horse, and

which I loved to capture on photo. No wonder that since then, I can be found at Moravita on a monthly basis as their own 'home photographer'.

When I first heard about the plans for a three day Baroque Event in 2010 I was already excited and enthusiastic. My expectations were high but the Baroque Event fulfilled them completely. For three days in a row I did not only have the chance to photograph all my favorite baroque breeds, but I also had an amazing time with all fantastic and friendly people. I wish nothing less for the Baroque Event Moravita in September 2012. This year is even extra exciting for me, since I am partly responsible for

the preparations of the event, as I currently am a working student for Moravita.

Apart from that I will of course be the main photographer again, and I will sponsor a unique and very special price to the most 'artistic combination' of the freestyle kur...

I am looking forward to the Baroque Event Moravita and hope to meet you there!
