Biography

• Lived: 1650-1690?• Active: 1664-1690 • Country of origin: England• Buccaneer • captured and destroyed 25 Spanish ships• plundered towns along the coast of South

America including Portobello • got away with being a pirate • Base of operations: Eastern Caribbean and

spent much of his time on a little island known as Nevis, Queen of the Caribbean

• He lived longer than most pirates• He was brought up on Piracy Charges five

times (Including the one in Nevis) but talked his way out each time

• His last trial was at the Tower of London when he and the "Gentleman Pirate", Basil Ringrose beat the charges by supplying the British Navy with Spanish Shipping Charts of the Pacific Coast
