Learning about your ancestry can be fascinating and meaningful. You may be surprised at what you

discover: historical figures you’re related to, famous events your forefathers witnessed, or causes they fought to defend. This can be a wonderful way to connect with parents or grandparents. Ask about their childhood and memories, where they grew up and how their life unfolded. Every person has a story to tell; knowing their history helps you understand them and your background.

Tracing your roots is also a wonderful way to connect with loved ones who are gone. The months and years after a passing can be difficult, as you may feel you are losing your

Tracing Your Family Rootscloseness to him or her. Researching your family history may introduce you to a world of knowledge about your loved one and where they came from. It may bring a smile to your face to learn what a wonderful and rich life they had before you even entered their world.

Finding out about your family’s history has never been easier. Websites like Ancestry.com can locate extensive information about your heritage at the click of a button. You can hire an expert to answer specific questions or examine your genealogy records at your local family history center.

Establishing a permanent memorial for a loved one is helpful to the grieving and healing process. Family and

friends need a place to connect and pay their respects once a loved one is gone.

There are many meaningful memorialization options available with cremation. You can bury a portion of the cremated remains in a serene cemetery or place them in a mausoleum.

Another option is a columbarium niche. This wall of recessed spaces holds specifically designed urns of different styles and sizes. Some columbarium niches allow space for personal items and have enough space for multiple urns.

Lastly, you can dedicate plants and meaningful items in honor of a loved one. If your father enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying nature, perhaps a bench dedicated to him in the memorial park would be a special tribute. If she loved

T oday, family and friends are spread out all over the country so joining together for a funeral can be very

difficult. People have children to take care of and jobs they can’t abandon, but attending a funeral is an important event to make time for.

Ceremonies honor transitions in life, for example: weddings, baptisms, graduations, and funerals. The service recognizes the life that’s been lived and is a final chance to celebrate his or her accomplishments, friendships, family, leadership, and love.

Funerals help begin the healing process. When a loved one dies, there is a tremendous amount of grief. Although this pain can be intense, it must not be ignored. A funeral helps you accept the reality of your loss and gives you a chance to address these emotions with loved ones who are also mourning. You can receive comfort from family and friends or give your support to those who are in need. It’s important to take time to help loved ones when they need it most.
