Accessing Your Path

BASE CAMP Tutorial Quick Reference Guide

This is the Base Camp home page.

To access your path from here, open your Education Transcript. From this page, select My Education Transcript—either the My Education Transcript tile or the burgundy bar labeled “My Education Transcript” will work.

Once you are in your Education Transcript, select the Open Curriculum button on the right of the path name.

On this page, you will see an overview of your path.

On the left, you can see the Curriculum Progress Tracker, which will show the progress on your path, and the levels listed in order.

Select the top View Details button to go to Level 1.

You are now in your path. You can see the Path name here. In this example, you are on the Motivational Strategies path.

Under the path name, you can see that you are in Level 1.

You can view your progress through the level with the Level Progress Tracker located above the project titles, which shows 0%.

On this page, there is a list of the projects in this level: “Ice Breaker,” “Evaluation and Feedback” and “Researching and Presenting.” You will need to activate and then launch each project.

You will notice that currently, only the “Ice Breaker” has an Activate button. That’s because in Level 1, all other projects are locked until the Ice Breaker is completed. To start a project, view the Launching a Project tutorial.

Below the list of projects, you will also see a yellow folder icon titled “Level 1 Completion.” Learn more about completing levels in the Completing a Level tutorial.

Launching a Project


To start a project, first navigate to your Education Transcript, open the curriculum and view details of the level. You will need to activate and then launch each project.

You will notice that currently, only the “Ice Breaker” has an Activate button. That’s because in Level 1, all other projects are locked until the Ice Breaker is completed.

Select the Activate button. The page will reload.

Notice that the button now reads “Launch.” Select the Launch button to open the project.

Projects always open in a new win-dow. Once the project is open, select the Begin button to get started.

Resize the window so you can view it better. Be aware that resizing can cause the side buttons to disappear.

Review the Navigation page. This page will appear in first few projects to remind you how to navigate the project pages.

Each project begins with an Introduction page and a Your Assignment page with a Project Checklist.

Completing the Assess Your Skills Activity


Each project includes an Assess Your Skills—Before activity. Use this activity to rate your skill level in key areas before you begin the project.

After all the assignments in the project are complete, you will have the chance to assess your skills again and reflect on what you’ve learned.

You will see a series of statements which you will use to evaluate your skill level.

Printing a Project and Resources


You can print any of the projects in your path. To print a project, open the project...

...and use the dropdown section menu to navigate to the Your Evaluation page.

Select the burgundy “Print My Project” text to open the project as a PDF file that can be saved and printed.

Many of the project pages also provide PDF resources to help you complete your project. For example, select here to view this resource and select here to download it.

Completing a Project


After you have completed all as-signments in your project, return to the project and complete the Assess Your Skills—After activity.

You will see the same series of statements which you will use to evaluate your skill level again.

Select the Next button to advance to the next statement.

Select the Submit button to save your scores.

You will now see a comparison of your before and after scores. Use these to reflect on what you have learned in this project. Review the conclusion page and close the project.

On your Education Transcript, things have changed. Notice that the other projects in Level 1 are now unlocked.

On the left, the Curriculum Pro-gress Tracker now reads 5%, and the Level Progress Tracker shows 25%.

There is also a check mark on the Ice Breaker project, indicating completion. You can return at any time to review the information included in the Ice Breaker project.

Also, notice that the burgundy button to the right of the Ice Breaker has changed to “Evaluate.” You have the opportunity to give feedback about the project you just completed. To do so, select the Evaluate button.

Follow the prompts to complete your evaluation of the project. Please note that the opportunity to evaluate is only available for 10 days after project completion.

After you submit the project evaluation, the button has now switched back to “Launch.”

If you would prefer not to evaluate the project, you can still access the content by selecting the arrow adjacent to the Evaluate button and selecting Launch.

Now you can select the next pro-ject you would like to complete in this level—Evaluation and Feedback or Researching and Presenting.

Accessing Speech Evaluation Resources


To access speech evaluation re-sources, select the Speech Evalua-tions tile on the Base Camp home page.

Scroll down to see a list of all the evaluation resources

Evaluation resources appear in al-phabetical order. Find and select the name of the project you are completing or evaluating.

In this example, you are looking for the evaluation resource for “Active Listening.”

Select the Launch button to open the resource and view, print or save the resource as necessary.

You can also access speech evalu-ation resources by searching or browsing for them.

Completing a Level


Once you have completed all projects in a level, submit your level completion request to your vice president education. Navigate to your Education Transcript, open the curriculum and view details of the level.

Notice on the page that each project has a burgundy check mark, indicating completion.

Once you confirm that all required projects have been completed, select the Activate button to the right of the level completion item. In this example, it is Level 1 Completion— Motivational Strategies.

Then select the Launch button. A PDF will open containing information about submitting your level completion.

Next, select the Mark Complete button.

Notice the status has changed to Pending Completion Approval. An email notification will be sent to your vice president education informing him or her of your pending request. Your vice president education will then log in and approve or deny your completion request.

After your vice president education has approved your request, the Level Progress Tracker will change to 100%.

Burgundy checkmarks also appear next to the yellow folder icon, and next to Level 1 on the Curriculum Progress Tracker. The system will also award you a learning badge. To learn more about badges, view the Viewing Badges tutorial.

Completing a Level

If you select the next level in the Curriculum Progress Tracker, you will notice that the projects there are now unlocked and you can continue on your path.
