DESCRIPTION
The Foundation Armor concrete crack repair kit is a high pressure polyurethane kit. The injection ports guide the polyurethane to the back of the crack where it reacts with water and expands 40X it volume. The reacted material fills the entire crack – from back to front. Oncy dry, the resulting solution will have permanently bonded to the concrete and will flex with the wall if the wall moves, settles, or shrinks. Epoxies can be used – but those are meant for cracks where the concrete structure is in need of structural repair. If the concrete moves, settles, or shrinks – you don’t want to use an epoxy. Epoxies will crack and/or a new crack will form around the repaired one if the concrete moves, settles, or shrinks again.TRANSCRIPT

Basement Wall CracksHairline Cracks• Hairline cracks are cracks that measure 1/16″ or less. Most of these cracks you don’t have to
worry about repairing – unless they are leaking water or allowing for the intrusion of moisture, vapors, and radon. If that is the case, you want to use a high pressure, hydrophobic polyurethane kit. See concrete crack repair kits.
Small Cracks• Small cracks are cracks that measure 1/16″ to 1/8″. Small cracks should be repaired. Most
basement wall cracks are caused by settling – but there are other causes. If the wall is not in need of structural repair you want to use a high pressure, hydrophobic polyurethane kit. This kit will maintain its bond to concrete – and it is capable with flexing should the wall continue to settle or move.
Large Cracks• Large cracks are cracks that are 1/2″ +. These cracks can be cause for concern – large cracks
usually mean large causes. It is best to consult a basement professional just to make sure your basement isn’t ready to collapse! Some large cracks can be repaired using a crack repair kit however, you need to know the cause before you can determine the best solution.
Preventing Basement Wall Cracks
If you don’t have any cracks in your basement wall or if you have cracks and either 1)are about to repair them or 2) have already repaired them, you want to seal your basement walls with a penetrating concrete sealer. A sealer, like the Foundation Armor concrete sealer, will penetrate deep into the concrete and react with the free calcium and lime. This reaction forms a crystalline barrier within the pores of the concrete. Once dry, the concrete is strengthened by up to 45%. The barrier, because if fills the pores, also stops water, moisture, vapors and radon.
