HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Kingdom News November 2018
KINGDOM CHALLENGE Back in the saddle again: I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve as interim coordinator for Basin Baptist Net-work. The A Team has graciously extended this invitation to me. Let me first say how thankful I am for the wonderful leadership and service we re-ceived from Donny and Tammy Cortimilia. We ask God’s richest blessings on them in their obedience to God’s new assignment. I am thankful to be a part of the A Team in leading us to look forward to a fresh look at how God will use Basin Baptist Network to bless and assist our churches. Pray for the A Team as they prayerfully seek God’s leadership in finding our new Network leader. I would remind our churches that the network only works if you are the network. Pas-tors are being contacted for fresh input that will help us “network” together in carry-ing out the great commission in the Permian Basin. I know I can count on you to pray for me in this interim time. For Jesus’ sake, Bro. Wayne

Midland Baptist CRISIS Center “Where need and opportunity meet.
Hello everyone. I love getting to share some stories with you about some of the miracles that take place here. On a Tuesday in early October, we got a call from someone wanting to donate an almost brand new, king size mattress. We made arrangements to pick it up on Wednesday evening. Tuesday evening, a young men’s community group from a local church called and asked if they could volunteer Wednesday evening to help with something. Wednesday morn-ing, a family came in and they told us they had been sleeping on an air mattress since they moved to Midland. We said “We can fix you up, God has provided you with a new bed!” So the group of young men helped pick up the bed from the donor to take to the family who needed it. On the way to deliver it, the young men decided to stop and bless the family with brand new sheets, pillows, and a comforter for the new bed. So through this story we saw God provide a new bed through some kind donors, volunteers to pick it up and deliver it, and a family who was in need of a bed. The next day, the family who received the bed came by just to say thanks and how well they slept on it. Each Wednesday as soon as we close at 12:00 P.M., we have a lunch and Bible study for whoever wishes to attend. Typically about 10-15 homeless people stay. We’ve been plowing our way through the book of Romans a few verses at a time. A few weeks ago, we took a break from Romans to talk about hope. Rather than simply teaching a lesson, we try to listen to what our friends have to say, and sometimes they teach us a lesson. I shared a very recent story of a person who seemingly lost all hope and took their own life. This paved the way for our friends around the table to open up about their own lives and times they have felt hopeless. Their stories would make you weep. They talked for almost 2 hours. We opened up the Bible to John 14 and talked about hoping fully in Jesus, because hope in Him is eternal and secure. We plead with them each week to believe the Gospel, be saved, and follow Jesus. Pray that the Ho-ly Spirit will take the Word of God and cause it to take root in their hearts (and all our hearts) and cause them (and us) to have full hope and confidence in Jesus, even when all hope seems lost. For His glory, Russell Cowan, MBCC Director

Hello Basin Baptist Network, I am excited to inform you that the Baptist Student Ministry at UTPB is off to an excellent start this semester! Since beginning free lunches on campus back in September, we have averaged between 60-100 students every Tuesday! This weekly event has given us the opportunity to partner with several amazing churches in the Odessa area. These churches have graciously pro-vided fantastic meals for a lot of hungry college students, while at the same time faithfully proclaiming what the Lord is doing in and through their lo-cal congregations. We also began a weekly Bible study back in September, where we worked through the book of Colos-sians chapter by chapter. Recently, we have begun a study through the book of Hebrews that will take us through the rest of the semester. There is a very faithful group of young people who attend this Bi-ble study that love diving into the Word and helping each other grow in faith. I look forward to where God will lead us this school year. Please join me in prayer for the students at UTPB, that through this ministry they will hear the gospel, respond to it, and assimilate into a faithful local church that will disciple them and give them opportunities to serve and grow. If you would like to host a Tuesday lunch, please feel free to call, text, or email me at anytime. I would love to give you the opportunity to share with our students how God is using your church for His glory.
