Joe Foley, the 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2017 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year and 2010 Rus-sell Athletic/WBCA Re-gional Coach of the Year, has led the Little Rock Women’s Basketball pro-gram to 20-win seasons 10 of the last 11 years, outright Sun Belt Confer-ence West Division titles in the final six years the Sun Belt had divisions, post-season appearances in eight of the last nine years – including four NCAA berths – and Sun Belt Conference Tournament titles in 2011, 2012 and 2015. Foley has recorded a 746-237 (.760) career record and a 290-156 (.652) record at Little Rock in his 15th season in 2017-18.

Foley earned his 700th career victory in the NCAA Tournament’s first round in 2015, and he signed a contract extension in April 2015 that will keep him as the Trojans’ head coach through the 2023-24 season.

In his 15 years at Little Rock, Foley has compiled the most overall wins (29) and conference victories (18) in a season while producing the school’s first All-Sun Belt Conference selection in Alicia Cash in 2004. He also recruited back-to-back Sun Belt Con-ference Freshman of the Year in Renee Renz (2006) and Kim Sitzmann (2007). No other Sun Belt Con-ference school has achieved this feat. Foley also coached the school’s first-ever Honorable Mention All-America honoree in Chastity Reed in 2010. His Trojan student-athletes have earned 21 All-Confer-ence selections.

In 2015-16, Little Rock struggled to a 2-7 start, but Foley would turn the team around once con-ference play began. The Trojans rattled off 15 con-secutive wins to close the conference regular sea-son, earning the league’s No. 2 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament and reaching the Postseason WNIT for the fourth time in school history. The Trojans fin-ished the year with 20 wins for the ninth time in 10 seasons.

Before he started at Little Rock, Foley began his stint at Arkansas Tech as an assistant for the men’s basketball program from 1984-87. Foley was el-evated to the women’s head coaching position before the 1987-88 season.

The Golden Suns had six 30-win seasons under Foley and posted 16 consecutive 20-win seasons. Foley guided Arkansas Tech to back-to-back NAIA national championships in 1992 and 1993 and was the NCAA Division II national runner-up in 1999.

Under Foley, Arkansas Tech also won 14 confer-ence championships, made six appearances in the NCAA Division II tournament and advanced to the Division II Elite Eight twice.

Foley earned his bachelor’s degree from the Uni-versity of Central Arkansas in 1979. He is married to the former Chris Fields of Alpena, Ark. The couple has two children, C.J. and Miranda.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA (3-2)The Sooners come into Wednesday’s contest with a 92-74 loss at Oregon on Saturday. Before that, Oklahoma was on a two-game winning streak as it defeated SMU and Colorado State after suffering an overtime loss at DePaul.

Oklahoma has the 12th-best scoring offense in the nation this season with 88.6 points per game. On the flip side, the Sooners’ scoring defense ranks 330th as opponents are averaging 79.4 points per game. OU’s field-goal percentage of 45.4 ranks 44th nationally while opponents are averaging 41.9 — 257th nationally.

The Sooners’ top player is Vionise Pierre-Louis as she averages a double-double with 20.2 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Pierre-Louis’ field-percent-age of 69.8 ranks fourth nationally. She also leads the team in blocks (13) and turnovers (16).

SERIES AGAINST OKLAHOMA Little Rock is 1-6 all-time against Oklahoma with the lone win coming in 2014 — the last time the Sooners visited the Jack Stephens Center. In that game, the Trojans led the Sooners 43-29 at halftime before Oklahoma outscored Little Rock 33-23 in the second half. The push was too little, too late for Oklahoma as Little Rock hung on to earn the 66-62 victory. Of the 40 minutes, Little Rock led for 39:34 while Oklahoma led for just 11 seconds. The last two games in the series have occurred in Norman as Oklahoma earned 13- and 10-point wins, respec-tively. Tuesday will be just the third time Oklahoma has visited Little Rock and just the second time the Sooners have played at the Jack.

LITTLE ROCK VS. BIG 12Little Rock has an all-time record of 4-13 against current Big 12 Conference members. The Trojans have had their most success against Oklahoma State with a 2-3 record. Little Rock has faced six of the 10 current Big 12 members and has played Oklahoma the most with seven games played between the two.

A WIN AGAINST OKLAHOMA WOULD……snap Little Rock’s three-game skid.…put the Trojans at 2-0 against the Sooners at the Jack and 2-1 against Oklahoma when playing in Little Rock.…be Little Rock’s first against a Big 12 member since defeating the Sooners at the Jack in 2014.…be the Trojans’ first over a Power Five school since defeating Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament in 2015. …give the Trojans a 2-3 start for the first time since 2015-16.…be Little Rock’s 150th victory at the Jack Ste-phens Center.

SUCCESS FROM THE CHARITY STRIPELittle Rock is shooting 80.4 percent from the foul

line this season — ninth in the nation and first in the Sun Belt Conference. The Trojans have made 41 of their 51 foul shots this season. Kyra Collier is 11-for-12 from the foul line and has a free-throw percentage of 91.7 — 27th-best in the nation and second-best in the Sun Belt.

MINIMIZING TURNOVERSLittle Rock has committed the 10th-fewest turn-overs in the nation this season with 55. The Trojans’ turnover margin of 5.00 ranks 43rd nationally and ranks second in the Sun Belt. Little Rock is commit-ting 13.8 turnovers per game — the 49th-fewest in the nation and second-fewest in the conference.

FORCING TURNOVERSAgainst opponents, Little Rock is forcing 18.75 turnovers per game this season — third in the Sun Belt. Kyra Collier and Monique Townson are each averaging 2.5 steals per game — second-most in the Sun Belt.

FROM BEYOND THE ARCFreshman Tori Lasker is shooting 40.9 percent from three this season — fifth-best in the Sun Belt.

REJECTED!Sophomore Anna Hurlburt ranks 54th in the nation and third in the Sun Belt for blocked shots per game this season at 2.00. Hurlburt put up three blocks in back-to-back games last week at No. 19 Texas A&M and Rice.

WITH THE ASSISTMonique Townson’s 17 assists through four games are the most by a Trojan since Taylor Ford (2013-14). Townson’s 4.3 assists per game rank four in the Sun Belt, while her assist turnover ratio of 2.83 ranks, 58th nationally and third in the Sun Belt.

UPCOMING MILESTONES• Kyra Collier is 16 points away from 300 for her career.• Collier is two field goals away from 100 for her career.• Ronjanae DeGray is four field goals shy of 150 for her career.• Keanna Keys is six points shy of 450 for her career.

LOYAL FANSLittle Rock is averaging the 80th-best home atten-dance this season with 1,762 per game — the best in the Sun Belt Conference. The Trojans’ accumula-tive home attendance of 3,524 for just two games ranks second in the league behind UT Arlington’s four-game total of 4,153.

RETURNER INFOThe Trojans return nine players from last season’s roster. Monique Townson is the Trojans’ lone true senior while graduate Keanna Keys makes her return after sitting the entire 2016-17 season due to

injury. Anchoring Little Rock’s roster are four returning juniors (Raeyana DeGray, Ronjanae DeGray, Kiara Scott, Kira Shepard) and three returning sophomores (Sydney Chastain, Kyra Collier, Anna Hurlburt).

Of Little Rock’s returners, the Trojans bring back 47 percent of their scoring, 63.4 percent of their rebounds, 77.4 percent of their assists and 71.3 percent of their steals from last season.

WELCOME NEWCOMERSLittle Rock welcomes five newcomers to this season’s roster — four freshmen (Teal Battle, Keyara Jones, Tori Lasker, Terrion Moore) and one junior college transfer (Yanina Inkina).

ANOTHER TOUGH SCHEDULELittle Rock is no stranger to tough schedules as it played the 79th toughest in the nation last season. This year, the Trojans have lined up five opponents that finished in the top 37 of last season’s RPI. Little Rock will face 12 teams that made a postseason tournament appearance last season. Six qualified for the NCAA Tournament, four made the WNIT and two participated in the WBI.

Two squads on Little Rock’s 2017-18 schedule were ranked in the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll while four others received votes. In the Associated Press Preseason Poll, three teams were ranked in the top 25 while two received votes.

SUN BELT PRESEASON POLLAfter winning the Sun Belt Regular Season Championship last season, Little Rock was picked to finish second in the 2017-18 Sun Belt Women's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Poll. The Trojans earned 125 points and picked up two first-place votes while UT Arlington was picked as the league favorite with 136 points and seven first-place votes.

MID-MAJOR POLLLittle Rock received 16 votes in College Insider’s Mid-Major Poll last Tuesday.

AMONG THE GREATSEntering his 30th season as a head coach and 15th season at Little Rock, head coach Joe Foley currently ranks as the 10th-winningest active coach in the NCAA with 746 wins. Among current Division I coaches, Foley’s win total and .761 winning percentage rank seventh.

SUCCESS AT THE JACKSince Little Rock’s first season at the Jack in 2005-06, the Trojans have tallied a home record of 149-30 and 96-12 in home conference games. Little Rock has never had a losing season at home and has at least 10 wins at the Jack in every season but one. Since the 2013-14 season, the Trojans are 37-1 against Sun Belt opponents when playing at the Jack.

20-WIN SEASONSLittle Rock finished the 2016-17 season with a record of 25-9, reaching the 20-win mark for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons. Little Rock had never earned a 20-win season before head coach Joe Foley took over the program in 2003-04.

POSTSEASON SUCCESSLittle Rock has made an appearance in a postseason tournament (NCAA and WNIT) in nine of the last 10 years. Last season, Little Rock picked up its first-ever WNIT victory when it defeated Southern Miss on the road. The Trojans nearly claimed their second win as they fell 55-53 on the road at Alabama in the second round.

AGAINST THIS SEASON’S SCHEDULEThe Trojans have an all-time record of 172-134 against their 2017-18 opponents and have a 137-76 record against current Sun Belt schools.
