Batch Importing from Dropbox Mobile Sheets Tutorial 5 This tutorial has been written for those users for whom I have configured and populated Mobile Sheets with ukulele songsheets. Over the course of time a few inconsistencies regarding folder naming have crept in and for this I apologize. Sometimes the folder containing all the songsheets has been named “Ukulele Songsheets”, sometimes it has been “Ukulele Songbooks” and, on at least one occasion, “Ukulele Library”. Likewise there may be some variations in how the individual club folders and other folders have been named and you should expect to exercise some thought and discretion in applying the guidance in this tutorial to your personal circumstances. Any of our members who need further support can contact me and I will do what I can to help. The primary factor that prompted this tutorial is the need to disseminate the New Horizonz songbook/Album, in preparation for a gig at the end of January 2020 so this document will guide you through the process of: 1. Creating a New Horizonz folder inside your Ukulele Songsheets folder (see the caveat above about folder naming) 2. Configuring Mobile Sheets to ensure that the batch imported PDFs are directed to the new folder 3. Batch importing the New Horizonz songsheets from Dropbox. Assumptions contained in the tutorial: 1. The most recent version of Mobile Sheets is installed 2. Astro File Manager is installed. (you don’t have to use Astro if you prefer another file manager but all the graphics in this tutorial are from Astro).

  • Batch Importing from Dropbox Mobile Sheets Tutorial 5

This tutorial has been written for those users for whom I have configured and

populated Mobile Sheets with ukulele songsheets. Over the course of time a

few inconsistencies regarding folder naming have crept in and for this I

apologize. Sometimes the folder containing all the songsheets has been

named “Ukulele Songsheets”, sometimes it has been “Ukulele Songbooks” and,

on at least one occasion, “Ukulele Library”. Likewise there may be some

variations in how the individual club folders and other folders have been

named and you should expect to exercise some thought and discretion in

applying the guidance in this tutorial to your personal circumstances. Any of

our members who need further support can contact me and I will do what I

    can to help.

The primary factor that prompted this tutorial is the need to disseminate the

New Horizonz songbook/Album, in preparation for a gig at the end of January

2020 so this document will guide you through the process of:

    1. Creating a New Horizonz folder inside your Ukulele Songsheets folder

(see the caveat above about folder naming)

    2. Configuring Mobile Sheets to ensure that the batch imported PDFs are

    directed to the new folder

    3. Batch importing the New Horizonz songsheets from Dropbox.

    Assumptions contained in the tutorial:

    1. The most recent version of Mobile Sheets is installed

    2. Astro File Manager is installed. (you don’t have to use Astro if you

prefer another file manager but all the graphics in this tutorial are from

    Astro).

  • 1. Creating a New Horizonz folder

Open Astro File Manager and navigate to your Ukulele

    Songsheets/Songbook/Library folder.

If you have an External SD card installed the folder might there, otherwise it

    will be inside Internal Storage.

Here is a view of my Ukulele Songsheets folder, in my External SD card

Click on the Add Folder icon in the bottom right and enter the folder name

in the dialogue that opens. Then click on Create.

  • Scroll through the folder list to verify that your new folder has been

created, then close Astro by pressing your Home button.

    2. Configuring Mobile Sheets to ensure that the batch imported

PDFs are directed to the new folder

    Open Mobile Sheets

Click on the Overflow Menu, then click on Settings

  • Click on Storage, then click on Set The MobileSheets Storage Location

Here, you are telling MobileSheets which of your folders you want it to

    concentrate on.

To navigate to the target folder:

Click on the folder icon to open the navigation dialogue

MobileSheets navigation dialogues are not as friendly as Astro but they still use

the breadcrumb trail and under normal conditions you should not (during this

part of the batch import process) need to go any further back than Ukulele

    Songsheets/Songbooks/Library.

  • To open the Ukulele Songsheets/Songbooks/Library folder, click on the

folder name in the breadcrumb trail.

Navigate to the target folder (in this tutorial it is New Horizonz) and click on it,

to open it. When you are setting the Default Storage Location it will always be

shown as empty, even if there are files there.

    Click on OK

  • Click on OK

    Click on Close

    3. Batch importing the New Horizonz songsheets from Dropbox. Click on IMPORT and then Batch Import

  • Click on the folder icon, to open a Choose Source dialog and then click on Dropbox.

If clicking on the folder icon does not open the source list shown here, check the top right corner of

the screen and look for a Dropbox icon and click on that.

This is a view of my Dropbox folders. Yours will be different.

To get highest available folder level, click on Root and then click on the folder which will be labelled

either as Songsheets or Victoria Songsheets (or something like that) and that contains (Surprise!

Surprise!) folders for Victoria, Crossed Ukeys, Friends Ukenited, Lower George, New Horizonz and

    Age UK.

  • Once you have entered the Songsheets or Victoria Songsheets folder, look for the New Horizonz

    folder and click on that.

At this point you need only click on the OK button

  • Make sure that the check boxes; Scan all subdirectories for files & Avoid duplicate songs are both

    unchecked.

Touch the Albums field and enter “New Horizonz”

    Click on START.

You will see a progress report. Just sit back and enjoy watching it do the donkey work.

When it’s finished, the progress report is replaced with a final report that tells you how many files

have been imported. Just click on the OK button and it takes you back to the point where you

    started the Batch Import process.

Click on the Albums tab, near the top on the screen and select your new album, New Horizonz

Click on Load All to open all the songs in the album and then swipe through them to make sure they

    have all imported cleanly.
