I at times consider the possibility that my car will be stolen, and that I will not have a way to kill the battery or some

vital part of the vehicle in order to prevent the thief from taking my vehicle.

I then discovered that there are little devices called battery kill switches that are easy to install, and provide a quick and efficient way to render your vehicle useless before the thief

even starts the ignition.

This is mainly because the ignition is blocked from being able to start in the first place.

With that said I would like to inform vehicle owners on how they can safely and easily install a battery kill switch, so that

they too can worry less about their vehicle being stolen.

The first step in installing a battery kill switch is to make sure that the ignition of the vehicle is turned off, and that

you are wearing the proper safety equipment.

Once the two above requirements are met you should remove the battery cables by disconnected the positive

then the negative cables.

The next step in the installation process is to connect the kill switch wires.

The best way to connect the wires is in between the cable and the battery terminal.

It is important to remember the location of the switch wires because the actual switch will also need to be on the same

location in order to properly work.

Once the switch wires are properly installed it is time to reattach the battery terminal.

Complete this process by first connecting the positive terminal of the battery back to your vehicle, and then for

the negative terminal of the battery.

Once the above steps are taken it is now time to find the location for the kill switch.

The switch should be placed somewhere that is hidden, but is still easily accessible to the car owner.

Once the preferred location has been found the owner of the vehicle needs to drill some pilot holes with a drill.

Run the kill switch wires through the new holes in order to connect them to the kill switch itself.

With that done a driver should be able to easily and discretely kill their car battery once they have reached their destination without having to pop open the hood of the car.

If popping the hood of your car was required each time to activate or deactivate the kill switch then that may become apparent to thieves who would then know where to tinker

in order to disable the switch.

battery kill switch in order to prevent thieves from stealing their vehicle.
