seven hundred & seventy three Between John Baugh of this County of Chesterfield of the
one part and John Martin of the County aforesaid of the other Part Witnesseth that the said
John Baugh for & in Consideration of the Sum One Thousand pounds current Money of Vir-
ginia to him in hand paid by the said John Martin the receipt he doth hereby acknowledge
Hath granted bargained Sold aliened released and confirmed and by these presents Doth
grant bargain sell alien release & confirm unto the said John Martin his heirs & assigns for-
ever a certain Tract or parcel of Land lying & being in the County aforesaid & commonly
called Cathole containing by Estimation Three hundred & Fifty acres be the same more or
less & bounded as followeth:
Beginning at two Tussocks of March a large pine tree and alyum on Appomattox River on Wil-
liam Walthalls line & continuing along the said Walthalls line to the River near alyum
Humps on the shore. The marked corner trees and stones is as followeth. First from the two
Tussocks of Marsh Pine & Alyum before mentioned to a Corner Red Oak. Thence to a Cor-
ner Hickory & Pine Thence to a Corner Pine, Thence to a Corner of Oaks & Pine, Thence to
the Ash°on Swamp Run (or Pucketts Run) at a Corner White Oak which stands on the said
Run Thence up the several Meanders of the said Run to a Corner Stone which stands on the
said Run Thence a strait line to a Corner Hickory. Thence to a Corner of two White Oaks
Thence to a Corner Stone Thence to the River aforesaid near the alyum Hump on the shore
beforementioned Thence down the said River as it meanders to the beginning excepting Wil-
liam Walthalls Fishing place which is from the alyum hump before mentioned as far as high
water mark down the river to a marked white Oak which stands on the shore side. Including
all that tract of Land the said John Baugh got by his Father’s death and all the Estate Rights
