Bay Area Christian School Alumni News

Dear BACS Alumni,

Psalm 78:5-8 describes God’s testimony to His people. These verses outline the objective that those

hearing this testimony would pass His words on to the next generation and the next several generations

after that. This formation of biblical legacy is emphasized throughout Scripture, and as alumni, you are part

of our school’s legacy! More importantly, you’re part of the legacy found in Scripture - those generations

who know God and His great works!

This year, BACS celebrates its 43rd year of ministry, and we invite you to celebrate with us! Our

Homecoming is scheduled for September 25 as we play Rosehill Christian School at 7pm. It’s a great time

to visit campus to see the changes transpiring while visiting with former friends at the alumni dinner. If

you’ve not been by lately, you’ll notice that we are making strides in the construction process as we

progress through the Forward Initiative. Despite weather setbacks, this initiative has already seen the

eastern side of campus in the fall of 2016. As alumni, your support is appreciated immensely. Many of you

next steps that God has for Bay Area Christian School. You can find more details by visiting our web page

Greetings Bronco Nation and Alumni,

My name is Kyle Kennedy and I am the new Athletic Director at Bay Area Christian School! I am very excited to be here at BACS and hope to meet everyone throughout the course of this year. I am also looking forward to helping the student-athletes at BACS become all that Christ desires them to be.

I am very eager to play a vital role in the development of young men and woman as servant leaders for the king-dom of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe athletics can be used to teach lessons that will help student athletes fulfill their calling to the service of the Lord.

I am looking forward to working with the staff, coaches, students, alumni and the community in helping Bay Area Christian School fulfill its mission of: " Providing quality Christian education impacting lives for now and eternity.”

The Bronco football team got back in action with the start of the football season August 3rd. They are looking for another repeat performance of going back to the state championship from this past season. The varsity football team is being led by first year head coach Don Jones, and he has been working with this group throughout the entire summer to get them ready for this upcoming season.

We also had the lady Broncos volleyball team start their season off August 3rd as well, and they are being coached by Suzanne Ricketts. The volleyball girls have also put in a lot of time of this summer, and the results of that work will show tremendous growth in the program throughout this year.

This looks to be another great year of athletics at BACS and God has truly blessed the school with wonderful coaches and student-athletes. We look forward to the great things that God has in store for our fans, families, and student athletes.

Blessings,

The Fine Arts are an important part of a child’s education, and they are important at Bay Area Christian School! Training in the arts has been shown to improve creativity and innovation. Students learn to approach issues with a critical mind and a positive attitude towards problem solving. Exposure to the arts enhances communication skills, which are essential tools for collaboration. Participation in Fine Arts classes also helps encourage and develop flexibility and adaptability. Students at BACS have the opportunity to be involved in Art, Band, Choir, General Music, Orchestra and Theatre, and all of these programs are growing and flourishing! This fall, our Bronco Band will bring their musical excitement and energy to our football games. Choir will be spending time preparing students for the TPSMEA Honor Choir and All-State Choir audition process. This fall, all Fine Arts classes will focus on developing and broadening the student’s knowledge base, as well as practicing and perfecting their skill level. Also, for the first time ever, we will celebrate the sounds of the Christmas season with a Fine Arts Christmas program on Tuesday, December 8th. We serve a creative God, and we want to encourage our students to develop and strengthen their creative abilities as an act of worship and honor to the One true God who is worthy of it all! Please visit the Fine Arts section of the school’s website for more detailed information on what each program has to offer! To find us, click the Academics tab, and then select Fine Arts.

Spiritual Emphasis Week will be September

14-16, 2015 with Pastor Christian Newsome. Pastor Newsome and his wife, Danielle, have two children and reside in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Pastor Christian works to help church-planters around the country duplicate the success of ministry that he has seen at Journey Church International. He also works with the Go Tell Camp Ministry to preach to thousands of students across the country each summer.

The Jr. Beta Club attended the Texas State Convention in February, 2015. There were fifty seven students who represented our school in various competitions. Our Tower of Power team won the State Championship, receiving an invitation to attend Nationals. Also receiving an invitation to Nationals was Zachary Kirk, State Vice President, as well as his campaign skit. Also advancing to Nationals, our Living Literature scene won the State Championship. Gabriel Phillips' sculpture received first place and Destiny Jacob's photography received second place.

This summer, the Jr. Beta Club traveled to the National Convention in Nashville, TN. With twenty-four members in attendance, our club competed against the nation's top students in numerous exhibitions and competitions. The Broncos brought home the National Championship in the Convention Invention Exhibition. The Tower of Power team won 2nd place in the nation, competing against twenty-two teams.

Congratulations on a job well done!

The class of 2015 received over a million dollars in scholarships!

Did you know that thirty-seven percent of the 2015 seniors applied to Christian colleges? Twenty-four percent are

attending Christian colleges this fall. Way to Go Broncos!

What They Are Doing Now…

My name is Amy Johnson. I am the daughter of John and Nelda Dixon and graduated from BAC with the class of 1995. My husband Andy and I have six children, ages 8-18. Andy teaches in HISD and I am a homeschooling mom. We attend and serve at Providence Baptist Church where Andy is an el-der. Our oldest daughter just graduated high school. I am so thankful for BAC and the impact it had on my life on so many levels. I always enjoy hearing about the wonderful things the Lord is doing in and through the school. I know the administration, staff, and students at BAC will shine brightly as testimonies of God's grace in this community.

Carol (Bishop) Pierce (BACS class of 1981) of Olmos Elementary School has been named the Region 20 TEPSA (Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association) Assistant Principal of the Year. After her initial excitement from hearing the good news, Pierce began to think about all the other educators in North East ISD that work just as hard as she does every day. It is that humble mentality that garners her so much respect and appreciation among her peers.

Evie (Dixon) Swanson (BACS class of 1999)

I am so grateful that my parents saw the spiritual value of sending my sisters and I to BACS. I was blessed to receive an excellent education, but more importantly, I gained Biblical knowledge. The basic lessons of character, faith, and integrity were ingrained in the class-room. Bible class was always my favorite! Looking back, I see how God used Bay Area to help prepare me to live out my faith (both at home and at work).

Be encouraged to know that God uses you and the staff there to make a difference in so many people's lives! Keep serving Him wholeheartedly!
