Business Model based on achieving significant improvement in three key areas

Before Working on Vision
We need to:
1. Build Community Confidence
2. Build the Strategy
3. Build the Infrastructure
4. Build Strategic Partnerships
Building Community Confidence
We stabilized the network, built staff skill
levels, perfected the helpdesk, and
implemented best practices from the ITIL.
In doing so CompTIA (the Computing
Technology Industry Association) published
a case study on how we became a model for
best practices in providing user support.
4
Building the Strategy
Conducted a Gap analysis using:
• Deloitte & Touche IM risk audit
• Looking at best practices
• Investigating merging technology
• Set up IM Steering committee
Building Strategic Partnerships
Developed relationships with:
• Vendors
• Staff
• Other institutions
From these relationships we were able
to synergize to reach higher, faster,
better then anyone thought possible.
5
Building Strategic Partnerships
Visionaries behind the creation of:
• NorthNet TeleHealth Network
• ORION regional GigaPOP research network
• Nursing Computing Resource Center
Building the Infrastructure
We standardized the desktops, added
remote virtual desktops, upgraded
Meditech, Diagnostic Imaging, the
Business Systems, and built a lights out
“state-of-the art” data centers.
In the process, we identified new procedures for
dealing with data center contamination that
where picked up and adopted by NASA & IEEE.
