Fly traps to the foreSentomol had two fly killers new to the UK at PPC Live. The first, seen left with owner David , is thelarger one – the VT Pro. The idea is to satisfy a fly'sinitial desire . Both models areelectrically powered, use a food-based bait and aredesigned for use both indoors and out. Key to theeffectiveness are the rotating drums which house thebait. The smell lures flies onto the surface of the slowlyrotating the drum. Before they can take-off, they aretransported into the body of the trap and caught. TheVT Pro, is ideal for more commercial situations, whereasthe smaller, VT 10, is more suited to domestic situations.

Fit and forgetThis is the claim made by Andec Suppliesfor their Ratflap. The idea is that, once fitted, the device will keep rats from invading aproperty from their base in the sewersystem.
Placed in the sewer chamber/manhole itprevents the movement of rats. Madeentirely from high grade stainless steel, themanufacturer says it will not decay or begnawed through.
Seen here at PPC Live with Declan Meliafrom Andec Supplies from Ireland, theRatflap is available to purchase fromKillgerm.

Bayer’s sneaky peakWith registration and launch imminent, Bayerrevealed limited details about its innovativerodenticide. All they would say was that the newrodenticide is a foam formulation and designedfor control of both rats and mice.
Seen here right, Bayer's Colin Mumford explainedhow the product's foam formulation has beendesigned to overcome bait shyness. The bait isplaced in areas where the rodents are known topass, such as access holes and pipe-works. Theproduct transfers to the pests as they brush pastthe foam and is then ingested during routine grooming. “This solution is perfect in situations
where other food temptations limit the uptake ofconventional bait,” Colin concluded.www.pestcontrol-expert.com

We’re pleased to report a great response to our special Teste-alert sent out at the end of April. For those who missed it, thisrelated to an excellent programme on insect dissection on BBC 4.
BASIS managed to rush through a points allocation for us so wewere able to alert our readers to the programme and provide CPDquestions. Even though it was only available on BBC iPlayer forseven days, lot’s of you managed to see it and complete the test.BASIS liked the idea so much they decided to email it to allPROMPT members too.
