Mode of Address• Fairly informal but not as much so as teen music magazines. • Whilst there is a feeling of colloquialism it is still kept quite professional

sounding. This is evident because it doesn’t use lots of slang or abbreviations.

• This is to relate to the more mature audience. The magazine doesn’t want to risk alienating it’s target audience by using slang they wouldn’t understand or sounding too childish.

• Tit is a sophisticated magazine and so the mode of address reflects this. • The language used is full of praise for Beyonce by claiming she has

“inspired women everywhere”. This is done because they’re promoting the fact she’s getting an award from the magazine and so they obviously have very positive views of her and her music. Furthermore, she wouldn’t want to appear in it if she was being rubbished.

Layout

• The layout of the double page spread is very basic and appears structured.

• The two pages are split into the left dedicated to the article and the right an image of Beyonce (text to image ratio of 50%). This is done to make the article more eye catching than just mountains of text which can get boring.

• Two columns are used for the text which is slightly unconventional of magazines as usually there are three used.

Image

• The main image is of Beyonce a very popular singer. She is considered a well- known celebrity and so having the image of her would persuade people to read the article, as they want more information about her.

• The camera shot is a close up of her face and some form of metal jewellery around her neck. The fact the image is very simplistic anchors the fact that the magazine is focused on music and less on gossip.

• She is wearing a lot of silver eye makeup which draws attention to her eyes. Also this connotes to her being fashionable and glamorous.

Colour

• The colour scheme consists of a background which is a dark purple but gradually changes more pink. This creates quite a luxurious and sophisticated feel to the page which anchors the impression of Beyonce the photo creates.

• The white used for the headline and the body text then is very contrasting to the dark background.

• Therefore easier to read as well. • The colours are quite feminine and so this could show

the magazine is aimed at women more than men.

Font

• The headline is very dominant on the double page because it is so big and in block capitals. This draws attention to it.

• The word “Fiercely” is in very thick, bold font. This could have been done because the font which appears almost aggressive directly relates to the word and creates emphasis.

• The body text is sans-serif which connotes to informality .
