    BCNH SCIENCE FOUNDATION COURSES (SFC)

BCNH Science Foundation Courses (SFC) are designed for the following candidates:-

Those who do not have an A - Level Chemistry or an equivalent.

Those who have completed A - Level Chemistry 10 years ago or more.

    QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q: Is the course length sufficient to prepare me for BCNH Degree-level Diplomastudies?

The SFC (9 months in length) will give students sufficient scientific knowledge to enablethem to follow the topics on the Degree-level Diploma, including the courses delivered byUG.

Q: What is the difference between Standard SFC (attendance or online) and Selfstudy SFC?

The Standard SFC (9 months in length) is a comprehensive course covering organicand inorganic chemistry topics. Students study via attendance (1 weekend a month) orvia distance learning with full access to audio recordings and lecture notes on our virtuallearning environment (Moodle). This platform also provides valuable discussion forums sothat students can form one large community. This facility is hugely popular and it particularlybenefits long-distance learners.

The Self Study SFC is a revision course (flexible start) for those who have completed their

A - level Chemistry more than 10 years ago. It involves the same educational material asStandard SFC, but it does not include tutorial support and there is no final examination.Students will need to submit a completed workbook of questions and answers.

Q: Why do I need to complete a Science Foundation Course?

BCNH teaching is evidence based. Candidates without any science background will havedifficulty understanding research papers & following the modules on the Degree-levelDiploma, hence the need to prepare students for future studies at BCNH. We also set a veryhigh standard for our courses as we believe this enables students to become confident, safeand successful NT Practitioners.

Q: What is included in the course fee?

The SFC fees include course notes, lecture audio recordings, homework Qs & As

tutorial support, mock and final examination. Students who fail a final examination willhave to pay a re-sit fee of 60.

Standard SFCincludes all of the above

Self Study SFCincludes all of the above, except tutorial support

Q: Can I enrol throughout the year?

Attendance courses starts in September only (29th

    September 2012).

Standard distance learning SFCcourse start throughout the year.

Students who start a distance learning SFC later in the year, can sit the examination at a laterdate, subject to prior arrangement with the college.

The Self Study SFC course has also a flexible startthroughout the year.
