FERRYBOAT COMPLEX VARNABDZ Cargo is the only railway freigh operator in the Ferryboat complex Varna serving the railway-ferry lines connecting port of Varna
with port of Caucasus in Russia, port of Ilichevsk in Ukraine and the ports of Poti and Batumi in Georgia.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND EQUIPMENT OF THE FERRYBOAT COMPLEX VARNA
The complex has two piers with total length of 400 m and depth of 8,7 m, equipped with transitional bridges, each of which with 5 tracks with gauge 1520 mm. Ferry boats loaded with 108 wagons are handled for 8 hours, ferry boats loaded with 45 wagons – for 2 hours. The complex has a capacity for a simultaneous handling of two ships and also for handling of two types of ships – with width 26 and 22 m.

Length – 40 m; Width from the side of the ferryboat – 18,5 m; Width from the side of the ferryboat complex – 8,6 m; Weight – 300 t.
WORKSHOP FOR CHANGING BOGIES
The ferryboat complex Varna is the only place in the Black Sea region with possibility for changing wagon bogies from European (1435 mm) to Russian
standard (1520 mm) gauge. The workshop is equiped with two universal tracks, with 12 positions each. It has the capacity for changing the bogies of 280
wagons per day.
