For some jobs it is sufficient to dispense product directly from the bottle or tube onto the surfaces to be joined. In other cases, however, more precise and automated dispensing is required. In addition to the standard equipment available, Henkel can design and build equipment based upon customers requirements to provide unique application solutions.

• Next generation surface treatment for aluminum and steel with improved cost and environmental profile• Improve corrosion protection on e.g. lamp housings for exterior lighting• Support your cost and sustainability goals:

- Less process steps - Low temperatures - No sludge with heavy metals

• Increase luminaire quality and life span: protecting electronic components from humidity and impact• Optimise your manufacturing process: overmoulded parts are ready for the next process step in less than 1 minute

– no curing time required• Directly overmould PCBs and in many cases elimate need for additional housing for components• Improve your sustainability footprint: low pressure moulding adhesives are made of renewable raw materials

Lamp housings are used for exterior street lighting and car parks and must withstand exposure to the elements, hot/cold temperature extremes, dust, dirt, and road vibration. Using Henkel e.g. bonding and sealing, potting, and surface treatment solutions in lamp housing design and manufacturing, ensures long life and trouble-free operation.

New and exciting designs are becoming even more important to differentiate your luminarie in the consumer and residential market. The use of LEDs for residential and consumer lighting is growing as incandescent become obsolete and concerns remain over the safety and disposal risk of CFLs. Henkel bonding, thermal management, and potting products can help manufacturers realise their design ambitions and build a better, more reliable and potentially lower-cost luminaire.

Illuminated advertisement and logos are an important element of the visual identity of your business. When used outside, they must withstand exposure to these elements while maintaining the high quality appearance of your design. In addition, the requirements of corporate design rules must be met, as for example displaying correct company colour tones.

For some jobs it is sufficient to dispense product directly from the bottle or tube onto the surfaces to be joined. In other cases, however, more precise and automated dispensing is required. In addition to the standard equipment available, Henkel can design and build equipment based upon customers requirements to provide unique application solutions.

Dispensing Equipment

Loctite Hand-Held Applicators are ergonomically designed for hand delivery of Loctite adhesives and fluids directly from their original package. Whether pneumatic or manual, each item is designed for easy, clean, hand-held dispensing of fluids, to reduce waste and operator contact. The selection of a Loctite Hand-Held Applicator is based on the product type, package size, and process requirements. Available for:

• 1 Component Cartridges• 2 Component Cartridges

Four major effects must be taken into consideration when designing a successful light cure application: emission spectrum of the cure system, light intensity, transmission properties of substrate and required cure characteristics. As a manufacturer of both the chemistry and the curing equipment, Henkel knows how to match light cure adhesives to the correct dispensing and curing system.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) may be found in various chemical products such as cleaners, lubricants, solvents, thermal compounds as well as adhesives and sealants. When enclosed together with LEDs during luminaire assembly, incompatible VOCs may degrade the light output performance, change the colour points and reduce the life span of LEDs.

Incompatibility comes in varying degrees: some chemical materials are critical when in direct contact with LEDs but are fine when enclosed without being in contact with the LED (indirect contact - also referred to as proximity). Some materials, such as adhesives and sealants, may be critical during the curing process, but less so when fully cured.

Cree® has defined a testing methodology to evaluate chemical compatibility. Many Henkel products meet the requirements set forth by Cree® and we are committed to continue systematically testing our products. This will help you select the right adhesive and sealant for your application and be assured that incompatibility will not become an issue for you.
