• In flurry of words against opponents during several gatherings, the politicians have mistakenly damaged their cause. This time it was Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahbaz Sharif who said that he will eliminate electricity from the country.

• Addressing a PML-N gathering, the PML-N leader said that he will eliminate the electricity from the country in two years.

REACTIVE (EXAMPLE)

Page 43: Be Proactive habit#1

In a slip of tongue during a party gathering , the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf Chief Imran Khan said that go and vote for lion, a symbol of PTI’s opponent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the upcoming elections.

• The whole world calls Jinnah a man of words

CirclesCircle of concerns: (Focus our time and energy)

A circle of concern encompasses the wide range of concerns we have, such as our health, our children, problems at work, the amount of government borrowing, or the threat of war.

Page 95: Be Proactive habit#1

Concerns:Things that worry, bother, frustrate

Influence:Things you can do something about.

As we look at those things within our circle of concern, it becomes apparent that these are something over which we have no real control and other that we can do something about.

Page 96: Be Proactive habit#1

Circle of influence: A circle of

influence encompasses those concerns that we do something about. They are concerns. That we have some control

Page 97: Be Proactive habit#1

Proactive Focus on circles:Proactive focus on issues within their circle of influence.

They work on things they can do something about.

The nature of their energy is doing this is positive, enlarging and magnifying.

They increase their circle of influence.

Page 98: Be Proactive habit#1

How to Proactive…..?

• Change how you handle things, make a choice to be positive and focus on those things how you can change.• Make a positive difference in your family, you class, your school and your world!

Page 99: Be Proactive habit#1

The HAVE’S and The BE’S

Page 100: Be Proactive habit#1

HAVE’S

The circle of concern is filled with the HAVE’S.

“If I had more obedient kids…” “If I had my degree…” “I’ll be happy when I have my house paid off.”

Page 101: Be Proactive habit#1

BE’S

The circle of influence is filled with the BE’s

I can be more patient Be wise Be loving It’s the character focus.

Page 102: Be Proactive habit#1

Anytime we think the

problem is "out there," that thought is the problem.

Finding the solution is the actual way.

Page 103: Be Proactive habit#1

The change model is "outside -in" -- what's out there has to change before we can change. The proactive approach is to change from the Inside-Out: to be different, and by being different, to effect positive change in what's out there.

I can be more resourceful I can be more diligent I can be more creative I can be more cooperative

Page 104: Be Proactive habit#1

There are so many ways to work in the Circle of Influence To be a better listener To be a more loving marriage partnerTo be a better student To be a more cooperative dedicated employee

Page 105: Be Proactive habit#1

THE OTHER END OF THE STICK

Before we totally shift our life focus to our Circle of Influence, we need to consider two things in our Circle of Concern that merit deeper thought - Consequences - Mistakes.

Page 106: Be Proactive habit#1

Consequences

While we are free to choose our actions, we are not free to choose the consequences of those actions.

Consequences are governed by natural law.

They are out in the Circle of Concern.

Page 107: Be Proactive habit#1

MISTAKES

Undoubtedly, there have been times in each of our lives when we have picked up what we later felt was the wrong stick.

Our choices have brought consequences we would rather have lived without.

If we had the choice to make over again, we would make it differently.

Page 108: Be Proactive habit#1

MAKING AND KEEPING COMMITMENTS .

Our ability to make and keep commitments The commitments we make to ourselves and to

others The power to make and keep commitments to

ourselves is the essence of developing the basic habits of effectiveness.

Set a goal and work to achieve it

Page 109: Be Proactive habit#1

PROACTIVITY:The Thirty Day Test.

For 30 days work only in your Circle of Influence. o Make small commitments and keep them.o Be a light, not a judge. o Be a model, not a critic. o Be part of the solution, not part of the

problem.

Page 110: Be Proactive habit#1

When you make a

mistake, admit it, correct it, and learn from it --

immediately.

Page 111: Be Proactive habit#1

CONCLUSION.

Covey suggests some points of attention if we want to WORK on being proactive.

Don’t suffer from the mistakes you made, be proactive and correct. Accept that you made a mistake and take action.

Make promises, set goals, even if they are really small ones. It BUILDS the feeling of integrity and awareness and feeling of self-control.

Be a model, not a critic; be part of the solution.

Page 112: Be Proactive habit#1

Taking the initiative • The responsibility to make things happen.• Act or be acted upon.• The difference between the people who take initiative and who don’t like the difference between Day and Night.
