THANK YOU NOTESJesse and I are so thankful for this church family, and how each of you seem to consistently and fervently encourage, support and pray for us as individuals and as a growing couple. We would not be where we are today without this kind of com-munity. Thank you for both the si-lent ways, and loud ways in which you show love for us. Thank you for the overwhelming shower you threw for us, and for every prayer or word of friendship. We are so humbled and thankful. Audrey DeJarnette & Jesse Loyd

Words cannot express the apprecia-tion for the love and care that you have given my family during these past couple of weeks. The prayers, cards, visits, food, flowers, and en-couraging words have meant so much and have helped to hold us up. I was so blessed to share 56 wonder-ful years with my husband and best friend and I have many memories to treasure. Thank you again for be-ing so good to us at such a difficult time. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

To appreciate the wonderful m

een the two chapters. Read

Romans 7:24-25. H

ow does the previous chapter set the stage for chapter 8?

Some title Rom

IV1984), Paul w

rote, “I would like to learn just one thing from

you: Did you receive

the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? 3Are you so

foolish? A er beginning with the Spirit, are you now

trying to attain your goal by hum

an e ort?” Instead of “human eff ort,” consider how

the ESV (and

most other translations) renders the last part of the verse: “H

aving begun by the Spirit, are you now

being perfected by the esh?” Discuss how

the Greek

word sarx (σαρκὶ) is translated. W

hat is the best way to understand w

hat Paul is teaching?

Read Romans 8:1-4. N

o condemnation doesn’t happen at the judgm

ent or the end of our life - it is available now. D

iscuss the signifi cance of the word

“now.” Why is this im

ould Satan not want you to claim

this prom

Discuss w

hat it means to live/w

alk according to the Spirit.

Paul goes into detail in the initial chapters about the sin problem of m

Why do som
