DINAROBIN SPA – AN ESCAPE FOR MIND AND BODY

One of the highlights at Dinarobin is the supremely indulgent Dinarobin

Spa. This magnificent retreat – in our opinion one of the finest spas

on the island – is housed in a thatched Mauritian villa in the hotel’s

gardens, with the dramatic Le Morne Mountain as a back drop. The

spa includes its own private courtyard and freshwater pool where you

can relax after your treatment. Here you can forget the outside world

and focus on re-energising in the calming environment.

There are eight massage rooms, two hydrotherapy rooms, two

balneotherapy rooms, two hammams, two saunas and a juice bar.

Qualified therapists offer an extensive range of classic and exotic

treatments using Clarins skincare products. In addition, the spa

features a unique Ayurvedic area, with four specially designed cabins,

The vast, smooth waters of Blue Baie Marine Park are made for watersports. This is the place to make full use of Shandrani's Serenity Plusconcept, with water-skiing, windsurfing, snorkelling, pedalos, kayaking,glass-bottom boat trips and more all included with your holiday.

A mini par 29, 9-hole pitch-and-putt golf course gives both beginnersand enthusiasts a fun challenge. Tennis and a well-equipped gym arealso included.

SHANDRANI SAILING CLUB

The Shandrani Sailing Club offers a golden opportunity to acquire newskills in the safe, tranquil waters of the lagoon, under expert tuitionfrom qualified instructors. And while you’re finessing your abilities on alaser, catamaran or windsurfer, children can have fun learning how tosail a dinghy.

You can progress to beginner’s level with an average of just one hourof sailing per day for five days, concentrating on practical sailing skills.In a further five days, with one hour a day of combined theoretical andpractical tuition, it’s possible to reach advanced level. The Sailing Clubis a member of the Mauritius Yachting Association and is accreditedby the International Sailing Association (ISA). This means if you makethe required progress you can graduate with an international sailinglicence and a recognised sailing logbook, which allows you tocontinue your training at any other ISA-recognised school in the world.

There’s no need to pre-book your place at the Shandrani Sailing Club –simply enrol once you arrive. The Sailing Club is at a small extracharge and suits those trying sailing for the first time, or those wishingto hone basic skills. It may not appeal to more experienced sailors.

A WIDE RANGE OF FREE ACTIVITIES

Le Victoria offers great conditions for all kinds of water sports. You can

snorkel just off the beach here – it’s magical when a school of fish

appears! Snorkelling trips have set departures, but if you are a keen

snorkeller we recommend you bring your own equipment.

Further free activities include water-skiing, windsurfing, kayaking,

sailing, glass-bottom boat trips and pedalos. If you are going to spend

a lot of time exploring the beach (and most of our clients do!) we

advise you to wear jelly shoes in some areas due to coral in the sand.

Do bring these with you, as they are fairly expensive in Mauritius.

For an extra charge you can book exciting deep-sea fishing trips,

go scuba-diving or hire bicycles to explore the island at your leisure.

BLISSFUL INFINITY POOL

The place to relax and feel you have arrived in Mauritius has to be the

expansive deep-blue infinity pool at Le Victoria, positioned to overlook

the equally turquoise Indian Ocean.

old colonial building, set apart from the main hotel. You can choose

from the chef’s daily menu or à la carte menus, but do ask for the

chef’s fish speciality at least once during your stay – it’s succulent

white tuna, rolled in rice paper, cooked Mediterranean style. As you

dine you can look out over the lush gardens to magnificent views of

the Indian Ocean. If you’re in the mood for dancing, Le Navigator

transforms into a disco at 23.00.

Le Frangipanier is the hotel’s main restaurant. It’s surrounded by

coconut palms to create a fabulous tropical ambience where you can

enjoy American-style buffet breakfast in the morning and themed

buffets every evening. As the sun goes down, this is the venue for

entertainment, whether it’s a local dance band, cabaret or traditional

séga dancing.

For drinks or snacks during the day, wander down to Le Planteur, the

You can take part in just about any water sport you can imagine

at Le Mauricia, including water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing and

snorkelling. Big-game fishing, catamaran cruises, speed boats

and scuba-diving can all be arranged locally at an extra cost. For

a real adventure try undersea walking off Grand Baie – it’s a great

opportunity for non-swimmers to experience the wonderful sea life

of Mauritius.

Guests can take their pick of two large pools, while there is a further

children’s pool to enjoy in the family village area. You can also play

tennis at three floodlit courts, take part in volleyball and table tennis or

work out at the fully-equipped fitness centre with its new equipment

main bar around the pool, serving drinks and snacks throughout the

day. If you want a taste of Mauritian nightlife try La Rhumerie nightclub,

which opens six nights a week until late, or stroll along the beach to

the many attractions of Grand Baie.

PRE-SEATING ON AIRCRAFTClients booked in most premium classes and limited economy classes can still bepre-assigned seating (there is a charge for this on British Airways flights and this canonly be done once we have issued your tickets), however, the seating available will belimited and, once this limit is reached, airlines will only allocate seats during thecheck-in process and this cannot be overridden. Please note, however, that pre-assigned seats cannot be guaranteed and do not constitute a term of your contractwith us. All airlines operate a no smoking policy on their aircraft.

SEASONS, GROUPS AND OTHER GUESTSBoth Mauritius (May to September) and the Seychelles (January to March) have an‘off peak’ season and during this period, you will often benefit from excellent prices.The properties we feature may take this quiet period to withdraw a few facilities: forexample, a pool for cleaning or renovation, or the temporary closure of a restaurant.Occasionally, throughout the year, the hotels will accept groups which we have no

control over. During your stay, they may take over restaurants and facilities for events.It is not possible to notify you of any of these changes before you travel and wecannot accept any responsibility for any inconvenience caused.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTSNo vaccinations are required for Mauritius and the Seychelles. It is your responsibilityto comply with any health requirements such as vaccinations. These requirements dochange; therefore it is wise to consult your doctor at your earliest opportunity. Werecommend that you obtain a copy of the Department of Health leaflet ‘Advice onHealth for Travellers’ available from your ABTA travel agent or the Department ofHealth. If you have a medical condition or if you are pregnant, then you must getclearance to travel from your own doctor. Pregnant passengers are not accepted bymost airlines after 28 weeks of gestation. Chikungunya and Dengue Fever, mosquito-borne infections, have been recorded in Mauritius and the Seychelles. Instances oftourist infection are rare, however, we recommend precautions are taken to minimisemosquito bites. We recommend our clients take along and use mosquito repellent. Ifyou require further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

CURRENCY & CREDIT CARDS The £ sterling, Euro � and US $ are all widely exchanged, and most major creditcards are accepted for payment of hotel accounts. Please note, in the Seychelles yourextras accounts are required to be settled in a foreign currency such as £ sterling orUS $ or by credit card. It is not advisable to purchase Seychelles rupees before youtravel, as they are rarely required in the islands.

HOTEL CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUTCheck-in is normally 15.00 and check-out by 11.00. Some hotels will try toaccommodate early arrivals and late departures. However, in order to guarantee earlycheck-in or a day room on departure, we can reserve the accommodation at asupplement beforehand.

Accommodation and public areas in the tropics do bring with them the local wildlife.Hotel managers work studiously to minimise unwelcome wildlife. Sainte Anne forexample is a particular challenge in light of the Seychelles government’s rulesregarding environmental protection, during your stay you may observe the occasionalfurry friend! Insects, reptiles, small mammals and rodents may be a feature, but in noway does this imply that the accommodation is unhygienic. They are simply a fact oflife in these destinations.

SPORTSIt is your responsibility to satisfy yourself as to applicable insurance (if any) and locallaws, particularly for water sports, and activities are generally at your own risk. Please beaware, if you wish to take part in scuba-diving you may be required to show a doctor’scertificate to confirm medical fitness. If you are a particularly keen diver, it is always agood idea to have this certificate with you. It is also important to check children’s agesfor scuba-diving before you depart. Water sports service may vary during the yeardepending on the weather conditions and tides. Please ensure you wear appropriate attirefor all sports, particularly footwear. Please also bear in mind that any sporting equipmentyou intend to take will form part of your luggage allowance, although some airlines mayexclude sporting goods from your luggage allowance. We do not have any legal liability whatsoever to you in the event ofnon-compliance. We regret we cannot accept any conditional booking (i.e. anybooking that is specified to be conditional on the fulfilment of a particular request).

WEDDING DATESConfirmed wedding dates may change under certain circumstances e.g. bad weatheror Mauritian law. This is extremely rare, but please be aware we cannot be heldresponsible for such change.

WEDDING PARTIESIf you are going to be travelling with a wedding party you must advise us at the timeof booking what special arrangements you require. This includes arrangements forprivate dining, the ability for the hotel to cater for guests not staying with you at thehotel and any other personal arrangements you may require. Whilst the hotel will doeverything possible to cater for your group, we regret that if we are not advised at thetime of booking the hotel may decline your requests.

LUGGAGE ALLOWANCEAs a guide, 20kg in Economy Class, 30kg in Business Class and 40kg in First Classare the allowances for international flights from the UK to the Indian Ocean. However,we recommend you confirm with the airline directly before you fly. Excess baggage ischarged at the airline’s own rates.

Please note there are strict restrictions on the size and weight of luggage allowed onhelicopter transfers. This is particularly the case in Mauritius, where baggage will betransferred by road at an additional cost, which may be payable locally. Please ask forfull details when booking.

Please note, if you are planning to get married abroad, due to carry-on baggagerestrictions, airlines cannot guarantee that you will be able to take your wedding dresson board. We recommend, therefore, that you ask the dressmaker to pack the dress ina travelling box or a hard-sided suitcase.

WEATHER & PUBLIC UTILITIESTemperatures are a guide only, and may fluctuate throughout the seasons. ‘0’ in theaverage rainfall guides represents rainfall of less than half an inch.

With worldwide weather becoming more erratic and harder to predict, we cannot beheld responsible for a disruption to your holiday due to bad weather. The weather inMauritius between June and September can be fairly changeable with some cloudcover, and it is important to note that although Mauritius is a year-round destination, itcan be chilly in the evenings and windy, with potential persistent rainfall at timesduring this period. Cyclones occur occasionally in Mauritius (usually in January andFebruary), which may result in a couple of days of heavy rain and winds, However, atthis time of year, the weather is still generally hot with prevalent sunshine. TheSeychelles experience two trade winds. The South East Trade Winds are prevalentfrom May to September when it will be drier, breezier, and slightly cooler than duringthe remainder of the year. This also means that between May and August currents arestronger, often bringing sea grass onto some of the beaches. The North West TradeWinds are prevalent from October to April. This is a much calmer breeze, whichresults in increased humidity and calmer seas. Higher rainfall occurs during this timeof year. The Seychelles experience quite a lot of rain at all times of the year, but thismostly occurs in brief showers followed again by tropical sunshine.

Wherever you travel, please ensure you take the necessary precautions to protectyourself from the harmful effects of the sun.

Public utilities, such as water and electricity, are taken for granted in Britain, but ontropical islands there may be hiccups in the supply. Internet access and speed canalso be intermittent in Mauritius and Seychelles and should not be relied upon to besimilar to UK services.

CLOTHINGAs the weather is generally warm all year round, cool lightweight clothing isrecommended. If travelling to Mauritius between June and August, it is well-worthtaking some warmer clothing with you for the evening. Most of our hotels operate anelegantly casual approach to dining in the evening, with gentlemen requested to wearlong trousers and collared shirts, and jeans are not acceptable in some restaurants.However, you do need to appreciate that some nationalities’ interpretation of ‘elegantlycasual’ may differ from the British point of view.

SAFETY FEATURES Please note, we cannot guarantee lifeguards are on duty at the swimming pools at alltimes. Some do have a sign indicating this and that swimming is at your own risk.Please be cautious, particularly with children. The depth and design of hotel poolsvary. We suggest in all cases that you familiarise yourself with each pool, particularlyprior to any diving. We also advise extra care when staying in accommodation withprivate pools. This can be very dangerous for young children, when not supervised fora split second. The government offers advice on safety on Ceefax BBC2 (page 470onwards) or on the Internet: www.fco.gov.uk When our hotels provide cots for infants,it is suggested that parents satisfy themselves with the safety features prior to use,and particular caution should be exercised with regard to room facilities.

DISABLED CUSTOMERSNo two people’s needs are the same, and we therefore ask you to let us know yourspecific requirements at the time of booking. Confirmation in writing for clarificationwill also be required. Due to the differing nature of our hotels, facilities vary, includingramps for wheelchairs, lifts, access to restaurants, access to the beach, etc. Pleasenote the hotel fact boxes on each page for details of any rooms that have beenspecifically converted for disabled customers.

NON-SMOKING POLICYThe smoking policy at the Beachcomber hotels is as follows. Room interiors are non-smoking areas; smoking will be permitted on terraces or balconies only. Mostrestaurants will feature a smoking area. Smoking will be allowed at all bars except inThe Club Lounge at Dinarobin.

SEA GRASSDuring certain times of the year some of the Seychelles beaches get covered in seagrass and hence the swimming from these beaches is not ideal. However, as SainteAnne has a choice of three beaches there is usually at least one beach to enjoy.

CUISINELocal Creole cooking and seafood are specialities. Good quality restaurants are rareand the best restaurants are found in the top hotels.

ISLAND TIMEExperience a slower pace of life. Whilst things get done in the Seychelles, nothinghappens immediately – it’s one of the reasons that the islands are so relaxing.

ARBITRATION SCHEMEFurther information on the Code and arbitration can be found on ABTA’s websitewww.abta.com. The arbitration scheme is arranged by ABTA and administeredindependently by IDRS, part of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. It provides for asimple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restrictedliability on you in respect of costs. Full details will be provided on request or can beobtained from the ABTA website. The scheme does not apply to claims for an amountgreater than £5,000 per person. There is also a limit of £25,000 per booking form.Neither does it apply to claims which are solely in respect of physical injury or illnessor their consequences. The scheme can however deal with compensation claimswhich include an element of minor injury or illness subject to a limit of £1,000 on theamount the arbitrator can award per person in respect of this element. The applicationfor arbitration and Statement of Claim must be received by IDRS within nine monthsof the date of return from the holiday. Outside this time limit arbitration under theScheme may still be available if the company agrees, but the ABTA Code does notrequire such agreement. For injury and illness claims, you may like to use theABTA/Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Mediation Procedure. This is a voluntaryscheme and requires us to agree for mediation to go ahead. The aim is to help youresolve your dispute in a quick and cost effective way. Alternatively AITO offer a lowcost Independent Dispute Settlement Service, visit www.aito.co.uk for details.

EU FLIGHT REGULATIONS In accordance with EU regulations we are required to advise you of the actual carrieroperating your flight/connecting flight/transfer. We do this by listing carriers to beused or likely to be used on pages 76-78 and at www.beachcombertours.co.uk. Anychanges to the actual airline after you have received your tickets will be notified toyou as soon as possible and in all cases at check-in or at the boarding gate. Veryrarely, we may be forced by adverse weather conditions (not necessarily in your ownresort) and other “force majeure” situations to terminate your holiday before the duedate or time and/or make alternative arrangements for your return journey. This isextremely unlikely but if this situation does occur, we regret we will be unable to makeany refunds (unless we obtain any refunds from our suppliers), pay you anycompensation or meet any costs or expenses you incur as a result. Under EU law(Regulation 261/2004) you have the right in some circumstances to refunds and/orcompensation from your airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay toflights. Full details of these rights will be publicised at EU airports and will also beavailable from airlines. However, reimbursement in such cases will not automaticallyentitle you to a refund of your holiday cost from us. Your right to a refund and/orcompensation from us is set in our point 6 of our booking conditions. If any paymentsto you are due from us, any payment made to you by the airline will be deducted fromthis amount. If your airline does not comply with these rules, you should complain tothe Air Transport Users’ Council on 020 7240 6061 www.atuc.org.uk.

FINANCIAL SECURITYThe Company is a member of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA V1892).It also holds an Air Travel Organisers Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority(ATOL 2995). Air Mauritius flies from London Heathrow to Mauritius non-stop,

up to four times a week, and all flights welcome passengers with

traditional Mauritian hospitality. Apart from the friendly onboard service

Air Mauritius is that you have the option to return directly to the UK

on a day or overnight flight.

BUSINESS CLASS

The Business Class cabin on Air Mauritius offers a comfortable cabin

fitted with a new generation of sleeperette seats. Laid out in a 60" pitch,

Air Seychelles has a direct service from the UK to the Seychelles

(although it touches down in Europe for one hour) and provides a

friendly Seychellois service along with Creole-inspired cuisine. Two

flights a week depart from London Heathrow and a third departs from

London Gatwick.

The airline has two cabins; comfortable Economy Class in a 2-3-2

configuration, and Pearl (Business) Class. Travelling Pearl Class

includes 30kg luggage allowance and roomy seats with a 50" pitch.

From late 2010, Pearl Class will be undergoing a make-over and will
