About.Beacon is located near Llanberis within the heart of the Welsh climbing scene and has been producing climbing holds and operating the acclaimed Beacon Climbing Centre since 1994.

Our 25+ years of accumulated experience and knowledge as both end user and manufacturer allows us to exactly understand the process behind shaping and manufacturing climbing holds that are suitable for use in commercial climbing facilities. This is what we produce.

Dual attachment system.All our bolt-on climbing holds feature a dual bolt washer that allows either M10 countersunk or cap head bolts to be used to mount the holds. This metal insert creates a more even stress distribution within the hold - thus increasing the force required to break the hold through the bolt.

Safety coil.All our climbing holds from size small and larger are fitted with a safety coil manufactured into the hold. In the unlikely event that a climbing hold should break in use (our reported breakage rate is < 0.01%) the safety coil binds the broken pieces and prevents large parts of the hold falling to the ground.

Secondary fixing point.Spinning climbing holds are a cause of unexpected falls on climbing walls. All our climbing holds feature a secondary fixing point in addition to the main bolt hole. This smaller fixing point accepts a regular 5mm diameter wood screw and prevents the climbing hold from spinning in use.

Quality control.Each climbing hold is individually inspected and stamped with a traceable quality control stamp on the base of the hold along with the date of manufacture. Samples from batches of holds are regularly tested to failure in order to ensure that our stringent manufacturing standards are consistently maintained.

PU - Polyurethane Moulding.Our largest climbing holds are moulded using the latest Dannomond polyurethane (PU) compound, with a lightweight hollow-back design. Not only is this PU compound significantly lighter than PE, making route setting with larger holds easier, it is also stronger and more durable making it less prone to chipping and breaking.

Additionally, we use a solid Dannomond PU compound for our smallest XS holds. This material choice significantly reduces the risk of cracking that can occur due to over-tightening of low profile XS climbing holds.

PE - Polyester Moulding.Most Beacon climbing holds are manufactured using polyester (PE) resin. This is the benchmark material for climbing holds supplied to the EU market. Our advanced CX200 compound combines the best combination of surface texture feel, surface wear resistance and colour resilience with low manufacturing costs.

Please note. The colour swatches shown are digital representations of actual colours and variations will exist between these and actual material colours. Due to material differences, some colour variation will also exist between polyester and polyurethane holds moulded using the same colour code.

All Beacon climbing holds are available in a choice of 9 different colours. We manufacture on a per order basis, meaning that there are never any limitations on stock availability or colour choice.

System. Beacon Climbing Holds22

System.System boards are training walls equipped with matching pairs of holds to allow left and right side muscle balance to be achieved. Our system sets use CNC technology to create each climbing hold shape in a left and right handed version i.e. they are exactly mirrored.
