The HeaderAll you really need in you header is a line like this

\documentclass{beamer}

However that will leave it looking very bare so you may want toalso add the line

\usetheme{Malmoe}

Also you can add most any other packages and macros youwould usually use in the standard way

\usepackage{amsthm}\usepackage{times}\usepackage{graphicx}...





Contextual Information in the Header

You will probably also want to add in some biographic notes inthe header like

The Frame

The main structure of a presentation is just the slide which iscalled a frame in Beamer.

The simplest way to create a frame is just

\frame{\frametitle{ Frame Title}Content...}

With in a frame you can put almost any regular latex that youlike.

Simple Commands

BEAMER has included useful environments like theorem,lemma, proof, definition, corollary and example. Note that anenvironment has to be ended in the same frame it was started.Also included is the alert command to bring extra attention to aword.

You can create a list where each point shows up separately(this is called showing up in separate overlays) just by using thecode

Sections and Subsections

You may have noticed the section structure that is illustrated inthe frames. This is simply done by adding section andsubsection tags between the frames like so

Table of Contents

You can also set a recurring table of contents to appear byadding the following to the header

This can be changed to appear at the beginning of subsectionsby changing ”Section” to ”Subsection.”





Changing things

This is not the only way that a BEAMER presentation can look.In the header we can set the colour scheme, presentationtheme and more add ons with

The easiest way to do this is to just use that pause command.However there are many times where the pause behavior isn’tquite right. For this reason we also have the commandsuncover and only along with the overlay specification < · >.

Sometimes when you reveal more and more of a slide you donot simply want to hide from one point on; rather you would liketo reveal the middle last. Perhaps you are proving throughcontradiction that there are infinitely many primes then youmight have

How this works

The new code used here is

\uncover<2->{ Content}

The overlay specifications are given in pointed brackets. Thespecification < 2− > means from slide 2 on. Thus, the first andlast statement are shown on the first slide of the frame, but theother two statements are not shown. Rather, the secondsecond is shown only from the second slide onward. beamerautomatically computes the number of slides needed for eachframe. More generally, overlay specification are lists ofnumbers or number ranges where the start or ending of a rangecan be left open. For example -3,5-6,8- means on all slides,except for slides 4 and 7.
