Welcome Back Activities at LRHS
September 25th was a very fun day at LRHS, as the Leadership Committee not only held a students vs. staff
soccer game but also planned and enjoyed a BBQ. Fact and Fiction students joined in the fun by holding a
very successful bake sale to help defer the costs of their Europe trip later this year. On top of all this, students
were encouraged to wear the school colours (blue, yellow and white). The day was a great success with the
students beating the teachers by one point, most people in blue, yellow and white and the BBQ raising over
$200 for future student activities. It was a beautiful sunny day and both students and staff loved the chance to
enjoy the day together. We all look forward to more of these great events as the year goes on.

Dear L.R.H.S. Families,
Our school year has started off very successfully and many activities and projects are underway. We
would like to thank all parents who came to L.R.H.S. on Curriculum Night, we were very pleased to have
such a great turnout. Even in high school, education continues to be a partnership between parents and
teachers.
The first communication was distributed on Tuesday, October 15. This is a snapshot of your child’s
progress thus far. Please contact us by telephone or email if you have any questions or concerns. Tea-
chers’ email addresses follow the same format: 1st letter of teacher’s name, last name and
@swlauriersb.qc.ca, (example [email protected]). The end of term I is on November 1st and
Parent Interviews are scheduled on November 20th.
Would all parents who have not filled in and returned the Health Forms, User Agreement, and Web

L.R.H.S. SCHOLARSHIP FUND
It was a wonderful surprise for the Laurentian Regional High School Scholarship fund
to receive a very large anonymous donation this year. Due to declining interest rates during
the past years, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain the amount of scholarships
handed out. This donation has not only refunded one of the existing scholarships, but al-
lowed that any shortfalls in the next few years be covered. This donor expressed apprecia-
tion for the education he or she received at the former Lachute High School and was obvi-
ously aware of the difficulties the fund had been experiencing.
The administrative board of the scholarship fund would like to thank this anonymous
donor and assure them that the funds will be allocated according to their wishes as outlined
in the letter received with the donation.
The Laurentian Regional High School Scholarship Fund awards scholarships each year
to deserving graduating students who will be continuing on to post-secondary education,
based on academic achievement during the last three years of their secondary education.
The fund gratefully receives and issues tax receipts for any and all donations, which
can be made to: Laurentian Regional High School Scholarship Fund

LRHS Basketball and Indoor Soccer 2013-2014
This year, our basketball and indoor soccer teams will be participating in the NEW Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board Sports League. Being the first year of this league, only a few sports and an alternative type of game scheduling are being organized. Games will be held at a jamboree three times during the year. A jamboree is tournament day where each team plays several games and points are accumulated at each of the jamborees
to determine a champion team.
For basketball, these dates have been selected for the jamborees:
Friday November 22nd at Rosemère High School (ped day)
Tuesday January 21st at LRHS. This is a regular school day
Monday February 10th at Mother Theresa Junior High School in Laval (ped day)
For indoor soccer, these dates have been selected for the jamborees:
Wednesday December 11th at LRHS. This is a regular school day
Friday January 31st at Rosemère HIgh School. This is a regular school day
Monday March 17th at Mother Theresa Junior High School in Laval (ped day)
Bus transportation from LRHS to Rosemère and Laval and back will be provided and a uniform will be borrowed by each player. For the jamborees that take place on a ped day, players must arrange to be driven to LRHS in order to take the bus. Please communicate with the coache(s) if alter-
native transporation arrangements need to be made.
The fees to play will be $60 per player/per sport. These fees must be paid by November 1st to the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board (if by cheque)
and be brought to the LRHS secretary by that date. The fees cover costs for transportation, referees and medical personel for the jamborees.
Laurentian Regional is proud to be part of this new league and it is hoped that we have teams for every category for both basketball and indoor
soccer. Many of the LRHS teams have begun try-outs or practices and the enthousiasm is building!

The 4 Korners Family Resource Center, a non-profit charitable organization, has been providing information, resources and services in English since 2005. A satellite office was opened in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts in September 2012. This office is the result of the collaboration between the Centre de santé et des services sociaux (CSSS) des Sommets and the English Communities Committee, which has existed in Ste-Agathe since 2007. Since the office is fairly new, we would like to take this opportunity to learn about your needs so that services and programs can be designed to best meet them. Answers to the following questions will help 4 Korners understand the needs of the English-speaking communities in the Laurentians. Please complete the following questions by placing an X in the box that best corresponds to your answer. Once complete, please return a 4 Korners representative. Thank you in advance for your input!
