Children from ages 4-12 will be welcome to use the bounce house but may be required to alternatetimes to avoid having small children in with bigger ones. Parents must be present to supervise

their children as child care personnel will not be on hand.

An Alaska State Fishing License is required! Drop anchor in Valdez this summer. Spend a day in beautiful Prince William Sound fishing for the biggest darn flounder you’ve ever seen the “Alaskan Halibut!” We will travel out to the Gulf of Alaska and attempt to put some of the finest seafood in your freezer. The trip down is designed to allow for viewing of Alaska’s scenery. Stopping for viewing of scenic vistas, wildlife and points of interest are planned. So don’t forget your camera! We will arrive in Valdez and camp overnight. Rise early the next day for the best Halibut fishing possible. Of course we don’t guarantee fish except from your local grocery store, so bring your fisherman’s luck and please no bananas! We provide transportation down and back, campground and Charter Boat. Youbring camping gear, food and refreshments Remember to pack a lunch for the trip on the Charter! “FISH ON” Reservations must be made by May 12th!

BOATER SAFETY PROGRAMMay 21 | Time: 1 p.m. | Open to participants ages 18 and older.Learn the basics of Alaska boating. The class begins with a classroom portion and then will move to the river for a practical hands-on portion. A Boater Safety Card is issued at the completion of the course and is valid for four years. Everyone renting a watercraft from the Outdoor Recreation Center is required to have a Boater Safety Card issued from the ORC on Ft. Wainwright. There are no exceptions! The course is conducted rain or shine so bring a raincoat.

INDOOR ROCK CLIMBING AT MELAVEN GYMMay 5, 12, 19 | Time: 5-7 p.m. | Participants: Min: 2 Max: 12All ages w/ adult supervision; must be 15 or older for belay training | No cost.

Climbing is a great mental and physical challenge - a good activity to have some funwhile at the gym. Come once to try it out, or come weekly and add indoor climbing to your regular workout schedule. This is a great way to train for the real rock Alaska has to offer. See you at the wall!

Nothing beats the feeling of catching a fish on a fly you made yourself. Materials and equipment are provided. This is a great clinic if you’re interested in starting tying or taking your fishing to a new level.

May 19 & 20: BABYSITTERS COURSE:2 to 6 p.m., Youth Center, Bldg. 4109. CYSS is offering youth 12 and older a baby sitter certification course. Participants will receive their 4-H Baby sitter Certificate and American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications upon successful completion of the course. Must attend both days to pass the course. May 11: HOMEMADE BABY FOOD:6:30 to 9:30 p.m., CDC I, Bldg. 4024.This two hour, hands-on workshop will teach you the tips, tricks and guidelines of introducing solid foods to your infant. Topics discussed will cover general nutrition guidelines, when to introduce different types of foods, allergies and reactions in your child to watch for, several methods of preparing and storing your own baby food with hands on practice, and the do’s and don’t’s of infant feeding. Participants will receive a food mill and a collection of baby food recipes. For more information, call 361-7713.
